Chapter 177 ~ ...oh for the love of... NOT AGAIN.

Just like last year. Getting over a minor heartache--Roboter and I have talked only 4 times these past two weeks. And work is a mess. AND...

one of my friends is engaged. That I once had a crush on. It's StarKnight Skater, whom I've known for 5 years now.

You know, I really don't seem to do well the last month before my Birthday, it seems. What happened a year ago... *hunts through the archive*

--OH YEAH! Pouncer gave me word of Agathangelos' engagement which, unfortunately, I didn't get to attend the wedding of. Something that, unfortunately, I still get upset at Siren over, but as long as neither of us mention the wedding my temper's at bay.

Tuesday 25 September 2008 ~ Chapter 67 ~ Sort of a Depressing Turn of Events.

Okay, I need to stop moping but, there's been a lot going on these past two weeks that, I'd been so worn out I didn't even remember to do the Top 20 so, before I forget altogether let's take care of that.

~ Rage Against the Machine, you are definitely some serious heroes in the music world. --those wondering why I say this, this recent YouTube from 2 September sums it up quite nobly:
"Bulls on Parade" and "Killing in the Name of" - Rage Against the Machine

For the background on this, read more at the blog on Above the Fold.

~ Siren, thank you again for the half-gallon of mint-chocolate chip ice cream. Sadly I haven't snacked on that since you visited Tuesday afternoon. I haven't finished the half-gallon though... got a helluva long way to go.

~ Kit darlin', whoop your ex in the behind on my behalf, because he kinda screwed up our hang-out time Thursday. Or not. In any case, see you Monday afternoon after I'm done at three. Hopefully. We defo need to hang out.

~ DJ, your comic version of Trans-Europa is nothing short of brilliant!! --for those who aren't familiar too well with her she's a fellow Barney's Angel and, she's 15 and LOVES Kraftwerk. And she draws wonderfully. I have evidence.

This is her cover for her comic version of Trans-Europa *it's a clicky-thumbnail because, really, yes, it's kinda big to fit on this blog, but it's still awesomeness*

~ Louise dear, I never thought you'd get the tail end of the storms we Floridians/American folk get as far as Tropical Storms, Hurricanes, and the like. My thoughts are definitely with you. As well as to all in the path of these darn storms. I hate 'em, don't you know? [Hurricane Andrew started it all for me, Summer of '92, folks.] And I do want to thank you again for putting together this for me, which is my song of the day for today:
"Neon Lights/Neonlicht" - Kraftwerk

~ Saint Barnabas folks, the Choir says, as of tomorrow, weeee're baaaack!!

~ The Verve, THANK YOU BIG TIME FOR REUNITING!! I didn't think you guys sound THIS awesome now, I'm definitely getting your new album ASAP, because this song's been playing on the indie station here. I didn't recognize you guys... OMG. I'm defo happy you've guys got new stuff out; hell, I didn't even realise you guys had your new album "Forth" out on 26 August--gosh I'm behind...
"Love Is Noise" - The Verve *yes, the verve!*

~ And finally, Roboter--yes, I saved you for last, 'cause everything I've had to say to you, I've e-mailed. I'm not gonna repost all that on here. Kinda lacked the patience for it.

...alrighty folks, I think I've just about said everything that should've been said this week. And tonight, for the first time in two weeks, I think I'm going to bed with a helluva clearer conscience. And God himself knows why.

*sigh* Now, anchoring down for the consequences of the letter--I'm hoping against hope that... well... the situation won't be as bad as I've been wigging out on.

*fingers crossed!!*

And until the next round, which won't be until Tuesday most likely...

Stay tuned for more weather drama as I hear more about it from... well... someone. As, at the moment, I'm kind of going by what the news says and by word of mouth.

*THIS JUST IN [6:10 P.M.] - GUSTAV EXPECTED TO HIT AS A CATAGORY 5 HURRICANE*

Chapter 170 ~ Survived.

Many, many apologies for this week's massive absence, but in case no one's been watching the T.V. my homestate of Florida got a very unnecessary visit by Tropical Storm Fay. Areas of Florida are flooded, as she'd been around [particularly East-Central Florida] all. damn. week. Needless to say there's been a lot of rain and nasty winds about this week; safe to say it wasn't the week to go near a central processing unit. Except at work, while dealing with some of the most ungrateful, inconsiderate mess of customers I'd ever faced in a long time.

Well, this week's over, and I'm off all weekend. But my week's basically been screwed over as I'd been indoors all week. What a freckin' waste.

Starian Union Radio Top 20 for Thursday 21 August 2008 ~
1] "NWA" - The Terrible Sea
2] "New York" - Micro Chip League
3] "Handle With Care" - Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins
4] "Say" - John Mayer
5] "Luno" - Bloc Party
6] "Cities In Dust" - Siouxsie and the Banshees
7] "Banana Pancakes" - Jack Johnson
8] "Harley David [Son of a B!tch]" - Bollock Brothers
9] "Something About Us" - Clay Aiken
10] "Young Folks" - Peter Bjorn and John
11] "Lost in the Supermarket" - The Clash
12] "The Queen Is Dead" - The Smiths
13] "Primitive Notion" - New Order
14] "Perpetual" - VNV Nation
15] "The New Pollution" - Beck
16] "Teardrop" - Massive Attack
17] "Theft, and Wandering Around Lost" - The Cocteau Twins
18] "Don't Change" - INXS
19] "Pioneers" - Bloc Party
20] "Thieves Like Us" - New Order

So Roboter on Monday nearly got shot by lightning on his way to work. Literally. He was on his way to work when he ended driving right into a freckin' storm [way to go honey!]... complete with rain, wind, AND hail. He's trying to make it to work in one piece, and all is kinda alright as he arrives at the parking lot. Now mind you, en route to work he notices that the lightning is striking the ANTENNA TOWER at the station. And no surprise, it's a cause for panic for both him AND myself.

Well, as he was about to make his run through the parking lot... well... he ran and--I couldn't tell what was going on over the phone. I heard this loud BOOM!!, heard a yell, and then a whole lot of laughter besides my own giggling!! Turns out his coworker had opened the door for Roboter so he could literally dive right through as an actual lightning bolt had JUST MISSED him!! And we ALL got a helluva good laugh out of that, which, after our conversation on the phone, must've prompted him to text me the following:

Btw, I hope that escapade goes in the blog!

Yes dear, it's in the blog now. ;-) *lol!!*

Two minutes later another text from him...
storm clouds!

they're still out there!

So my crazy weather nut got God-awful close to the weather that time. Literally!! But at least he's alright, thank God.

This week meanwhile was when Tropical Storm Fay hit this state upside. Unbloodyfair. A lot of rain and some hectic wind--Melbourne is currently flooded. Word came this morning that the Florida Hospital, Fish Memorial [in Orange City] is being evacuated--something broke, water everywhere. [PLEASE keep the patients and staff in your kind thoughts and prayers, fellow Underground Citizens.] Power was out in Merritt Island, where Siren is. This was also supposed to be the first week of school for most of Central Florida, Volusia County in particular and for Stetson University as well.

Work was very, VERY nervewrecking as well, as this week the weather just about messed some of us over. Michelle's house is flooded, as is Nicci's. I don't know who else from work is suffering, though I *did* walk to work Monday, Tuesday and yesterday. Not a fun situation to be walking to work in. And this week brought out some of the most ungrateful, inconsiderate customers I'd ever faced in quite a good long while. We had a sign that said "PLEASE turn your windshield wipers off! Thank you!" today because most of the week a majority of the customers didn't even consider turning them off at my Drive-Thru window. And the Store Manager wasn't in the best of moods [his oldest son Kristian left for the Air Force this week], and everybody was stressed out because of the storm. And it all took its toll on little old me. So, bear with me as I proudly declare,

THANK GOD I'M OFF THE NEXT TWO DOGGONE DAYS!!!

*whew!!* There. All better now.

So there you have it. This week, pretty much, and the Top 20 all caught up.

--crap, I almost forgot. Supposedly there's ANOTHER STORM heading our way in the next handful of days. And to be honest that's the last thing I need.

Oh and, the new part of the ceiling, over my stove, now has a leak somewhere. So of course, as if having a Tropical Storm and a workweek from hell all in the same week wasn't enough to bitch about...

*sigh* I think some dinner is in order.

This week is over. And I'm glad I survived.

Chapter 169 ~ "SUNSHINE! you've got some explaining to do..."

Okay okay, so I'm actually three days behind. I really do apologize to my fellow Underground Citizens, but I've just been God-awful busy and really, really tired. Especially the tired part--Roboter himself would know. He's had to work a hectic shift this past week AND next week, and then it'll be back to his regular work-time. But anywho. *sigh*

Oh and, two classic Doctor Who moments...

Hey! don't jumprope with the Doctor!! [or maybe do so...?]

And... *squee!!* I wanna hug that silly Doctor!! <3

Meh. I gotta do laundry today. Dressing up for first-day-of-school day tomorrow for work. Fun.

Yes, I will get a picture up somehow. Someone at work is bound to bring a freckin' camera... hopefully... *shrug*

Chapter 163 ~ Okay, so I'm a day late... sorry!!

But I really was just too busy yesterday. Worked, helped out as office manager, went shopping with Mom. And when I got home I was too sore, too tired, and simply was ready to go to bed. So I do apologise if y'all went on here last night and there was no Top 20. Rest assured though...

*whew* Alright, that done... well... I need to vent just a little. See, these days my coworkers, managers AND customers... well, they expect me to always have that damn glowing Superwoman S across my chest.

Problem is, the glowing S fades over time. I'm not the Superwoman that I once was, or that everyone nowadays expects of me. And I hate to admit this but, there are times... there are days when I wish I didn't have that glowing S across my chest. There really are days that I wish I didn't have to be shoved upon by everyone, just to try to do everything and anything at the same time.

Oh and, there are some people who ask, "When are you ever going to be a Manager??" I answer, "Whenever they get me out of this Drive-thru." Unfortunately, there are also people who think that Drive-thru is, as one customer put it last week, "where Miss Sunshine belongs." And sadly, that's why I can't get onward to management--because, simply put, no-one wants me to leave the Drive-thru. To the customers I'm the Drive-thru version of Superwoman.

And to be honest with you, it sucks.

And FURTHERMORE, as if I haven't been in Quarter-Life-Crisis mode enough, today is the anniversary of my first actual canine buddy Baloo's death. I think it's been 3 or 4 years. Today, also, my friend Taubin on Opacity.us said farewell to his beloved pet dog. So the death toll is now at 8 and, with a little over 2 months before my Quarter-centennial, I'm really, really nerve-wrecked right now. Part of me just wants to cry, part of me really needs to get away from everything, and part of me actually doesn't care anymore for the moment.

For once I'd like to have an actual break from my Quarter-Life Crisis, please, THANK YOU SO BLOODY MUCH.

*sigh* It's been a really rough past 10 months, hasn't it?

24 July 2008

Happy Thursday, Underground Citizens!!

First and foremost, the main order of business for the day: The Starian Union Radio Top 20! And you'll never guess [or you might!] as to who debut at the top of this week's chart. In more humorously good news, Kit found me a Doctor Who dvd featuring the brill[iant] Tom Baker as the beloved 4th Doctor. Now I don't know what it is yet, so of course no I haven't seen it. But am I excited? Oh yes I am...! ^_^ *squee!!*

And finally, well, as of yesterday it'll be two weeks until I celebrate 5 years of turning my McDonald's into an absolute nuthouse. ;-) And I say this kindly too. It'll be my 5-year anniversary of my first day working there, with next Wednesday being the 5-year anniversary of the day I rode my bike through a storm just to get to my interview with my then-Store Manager-now-Supervisor Chris. I have absolutely no idea what to expect other than, hey!

I'll be at work, celebrating with my coworkers, particularly those of us who've been bearing with me on this crazy ride every single shift of the way.

*sigh* And, I miss someone very, very dear to me at the moment. Meh.

Ah well. Until the next round...

17 July 2008

Well hey! it's Thursday!!

And oh.mah.gawd. What a crazy day today's been!!

But first, a YouTube treat [if you're reading this from facebook and it doesn't show there you'll have to check the actual blogsite to view the youtube], anyone a fan of Tom Baker? Yep, he's the Fourth Doctor. There were two Doctor Who intros featuring him. And this one, the first of the two, is my favorite.

And now, onto that time of the week we all know and love: the Top-20 Starian Union Radio Countdown! And, as always, the countdown always somehow goes a bit, erm, loopy. *LOL* Anywho!

And now, onto today's mess: can I just say, 5-hour power outage from God-knows-where!! Yep, at around 6:15 this morning the transformer blew, and pretty much we had no power, we were closed for most of my shift! *LOL* Best part of the five-hour hang-fest was, pizza and a game of Uno. Lots of fun overall. During that time I opted to play DJ and so, with my trusty iPod, I random'd the 'Pod and cranked up the tunage.

Chapter 15--wait, IT'S THURSDAY!! Oh, and one minor appeal...

And that means it's Starian Union Radio Top-20 time. ;-) This week's countdown... well... it got a bit screwy as I had to work a helluva lot, so here's to hoping that this next week I'll be listening plenty more and getting a better go-on with this.

Whew! alright, that done... well... HELP!!

Simply put, I've decided to be the Doctor--yes, Doctor Who--for Halloween this year, hopefully to slightly upstage the legendary Kraftwerk Roboter get-up from last year. Problem is, considering there'd been 10 [yes, TEN] grand Doctors in all the 40+ years that the show [one of 'em being in only one movie, and that's the once we've heard of 'im!], yeah. It's gonna be a slight minor pain. I'm somehow leaning towards that one though, the Eighth Doctor. The one portrayed by Paul McGann. First I gotta watch the movie [YouTube on Monday, anyone?], just to really get it right down to the quirks. *sigh* THEN I have to fight and fidget about the costume.

Uhm, those of you unsure about what the ish THIS Doctor wore...

Eh, yeah... what the ish indeed...

So basically put, I think I'll do my damnest to improvise. Nametag with, for the first line, "Doctor Who?" and for the second line "[Eighth Doctor]" for the day. I think I'll just stick to being the blue-haired female version of 'im though. *smirk* I mean, heck! I can find a proper vest, a white blouse and gold ribbons for his tie. Oh, and white [or off-white?? siren, someone, help. stat.] trousers. The tough part will be the coat... no, wait, I think I've still got my black long coat. Which only means that, if I play my cards proper... and I have proper black shoes then... HEY!! I can make a go at the Eighth Doctor!! YEAHOO!!

Especially since, right now, it's a b!tch and a half trying to find anything close to the Tenth Doctor... *sigh/insert eyeroll*

You know, I *do* have another three and a half months or so...

Whew! now that THAT's done, I have an odd announcement--I have another celebrity crush!! ^_^

If you're an Underground Citizen reading this and you know the show Doctor Who, you should by damn recognize THIS charming man...
Hellooooooooo glasses!!

Those who don't know the actor, his name is David Tennant. And he is one handsome lad, that's for sure!!
...aww c'mon, how can anyone resist that smile!?

I have, like, four pics of him on my phone. For sure, when I get back in the Underground I'll brag more about him. He kinda looks a bit like Morrissey when he's the Doctor. In any case he is just charming. And I'll have to find and share that appearance when he hosted The Friday Night Project.

*sigh* Now I can grin, giggle with glee and say "I have a crush on the Tenth Doctor!!" [Again, if you're a British Underground Citizen--or if you're highly familiar with the show--you should get the punchline properly quick!!]

Otherwise, that's the latest going on at the moment. Tomorrow is Independence Day, I'll be dressing up at work [hopefully I'll have a chance later on in the afternoon to post a pic!], so I still have some things I need to do. Like painting my nails blue, working on the blue hair a bit and getting my outfit altogether ready. So in the meantime, oogle happily at David/the Doctor. He.is.hawt! *mreow!!*

And to my fellow American Underground Citizens [and those of us who feel like celebrating for the fun of it!], here's to a Safe and Proper Independence, Fireworks and Cheers for the weekend!!

Until the next round... ;-)

Chapter 148 ~ Happy Thursday!: the Top 20 WSUR, and Other Pointless Commentary

Yup, back on schedule. Especially with what happened with the funeral last Thursday and what-not. It seems that, by a long-shot, Kraftwerk's the group of the week again with God only knows HOW MANY FRECKIN' SONGS I've listened to of theirs! And that's gone crazy-different from the actual Top-20 itself!! Accordingly, my top 5 bands this past week are as follows *and thanks to Last.fm for ALL CHARTS INVOLVED in this blog, as well as for the last-songs-played chart at the top of this blog!* ~

1] Kraftwerk
2] New Order
3] The Smiths
4] Depeche Mode
5] Clay Aiken

And with that, on with the Starian Union Radio Top 20!

1] "Lover All Alone" - Clay Aiken
2] "The Perfect Kiss" [full 12" version] - New Order
3] "Blasphemous Rumours" - Depeche Mode
4] "Getting Away With It" - Electronic
5] "Life's What You Make It" - Talk Talk
6] "Primitive Notion" - New Order
7] "Just Can't Get Enough" - Depeche Mode
8] "Hello It's Me" - Todd Rundgren
9] "Another Morning Stoner" - ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
10] "Whip It" - Devo
11] "Cellphone's Dead" - Beck
12] "How Soon Is Now?" - The Smiths
13] "99 Red Balloons" - Nena
14] "Driver 8" - R.E.M.
15] "Oh L'Amour" - Erasure
16] "Pretty Girls Make Graves" - The Smiths
17] "NWA" - The Terrible Sea
18] "Heaven" - The Psychedelic Furs
19] "Angel Dust" - New Order
20] "Down the Line" - Jose Gonzalez

Alright, that done, the usual short updates. Or somewhat short.

For one *and this is a major turn of events here, Citizens!* it's that, well, I won't be able to attend Agathangelos' wedding after all. Due to this break-up mess *which might as well be my fault--looooong story for another time* Siren's basically not one for wanting to deal with me and the anxiety of it all in two weeks' time. And what really sucks is that I went through the trouble of getting time off of work to attend this and then recover enough to get ready to go back to work. Except, now I've got no wedding to go to.

Of course, What. the. effin'. ish?

That's fine though--that just means four days with almost nothing much to do. Except, to do what-all I can do. And that's to take time for the most important person in my life right now [second to God of course]--me. Which by sure means I'll be sure to go out to a cemetery somewhere in the area, hopefully one I haven't been to yet. Another thing I can do is to simply go out and just have fun.

Or, I can work on both [Metropolis] AND [Computer<3].

So I have four days of proper freedom [by the way they're Saturday 12 through Tuesday 15 July], and if anyone's around and wants to hang out, LET. ME. KNOW.

Also, my last day of my self-holiday [15 July] is Ian Curtis Day. I'll get more to that in the next handful of days leading to it.

Second update is, well, I'm going to an 80's Ladies Night. And I don't usually go out to those kinds of things. Usually I tend to hide out here in the Underground. Except, with the latest messy update *and proof that I will get over this--news flash to you, Siren* I really could use a proper distraction. Hell, I might even meet some new friends, and maybe--just MAYBE--I might run into that cutie from Saturday night's Madonna costume party.

So there y'all have it. The latest of the matter, and the latest in my musical whim.

Until the next round...

*whew!!* Alright, now, onto the madness that was yesterday.

After working an exhausting 5 A.M.-2 P.M. [yes, I ended up staying an extra hour], I rushed home, got a quick shower, and was dressed and ready to go by the time Ani picked me up to get to Choir practice. Now considering I have this pretty new outfit to wear for the first time to this, I was rather a lovely fairy princess for a lack of proper words...
Yes, punk girls can become fairy princesses too...
The service all in all went very well, and the Choir had reconvened for this because the widow of the deceased is one of our own lovely Altos, Corky. And she was quite sweet, as always, when I got to talk to her a bit at the Reception. The Choir, by the way, is back on vacation and, God willing, will stay on vacation up to September.

Then I went through the trouble of walking about 20 minutes to Kit's apartment to hang out with her a bit. Now unfortunately, by that point--er, 6:30 P.M.-ish--I'd been wearing the heels I thought went perfectly with the dress.

What.the.fcuk.was.I.thinking!?

I got to sit on the carpet while at her place, and I asked her to take that pic you saw just a moment ago. Yeah, me, in that lovely dress that makes me feel like the dearest fairy princess in the entire fcuking world. I love this dress. I'm just not going to resort to heels ever again. The heels I spent the better part of four hours in sure tore the back of my feet up. *sigh* I think I'll stick with flats with the outfit. Which means back to Wal*Mart at some point.

And, last night I got to... actually, for the past couple of weeks now, I'd been talking with my friend Antenna--no, his codename changed as of this week. He's now known as Roboter here. Yep, my fellow Kraftwerk fanatic in New York and I have been engaging in rather amusing conversations about life and the messed-up side of it. And it's been a proper way of ending my day--actually, that's been the way we've ended our long days this week: a good half-hour to hour-long conversation on the phone about anything.

Let's put it this way--he's my long-distance best friend. And he's been my sounding board for the better part of this week, since I really don't have a lot of good guy friends this time around. Except for Pouncer, but he's all the way in Louisiana and in the Army [even though he's my best bud forfreckin'ever--if you can count 5 years as such]. And Siren... well... he's got his own situation with work. But he and I have been talking on AIM, but it's just not the same now. It's not like it used to be. The lovey-dovey talk has... well... died somehow. And I'm still blaming myself for that. I should've just shown patience as I usually do instead of getting into that temper I was in last week.

I miss telling my... er... I don't even know whether to address him as my "boyfriend" anymore. Sad that to me it's all come down to this. And that's been the one main thing haunting me this entire week, I'm realizing this now. I'm actually afraid of telling him that I love him, and even more afraid that his feelings are less than mutual because of the hell I raised last weekend. And I think that's one of the main reasons I've been afraid to answer his IM's all week--simply because I've been afraid. It just feels like we're just... you know... friends again. It's what's kept me from telling him I still love him. It's a feeling that makes me somewhat sick in my gut--just that feeling that things have changed somehow, and that my actions played a rather major part in it.

I've apologized time and again, but somehow, I don't know if I could ever forgive myself of this.

*question to self ~ jenn, why on earth are you even worrying yourself about him? he'll be just fine. you just go about your own business. end of. he's thinking of you. you'll be just fine. now get over it!*

Ah well, enough of this. It's the weekend, I'm off, and I guess a night of dancing is in order. Except, my entire entourage is either working or out of town, so it'll be just me this round. This could be rather, er... I don't know.

*sigh* Hey, if anything, I'll update tomorrow. I promise.

Until the next round, cheers.

Chapter 122, Part 2/2: The Top-20 WSUR--now on Thursdays!

Since Thursdays seem to be my main day off now, and since it's the only main day to actually update the music charts, the Top-20 WSUR will now be on Thursdays. Now let's see if I can stick to that. With my luck, I think I can!!

And, as I can see from last week and this week, some mighty changes in the chart for sure!! The brand new single by Death Cab for Cutie makes its first appearance, and of course there hasn't been a band that's got two songs in the Top-20 Charts, but of course, knowing me, that could change by next week. Sneaker Pimps' "6 Underground" became the big jumper of the week, jumping up 15 notches, and most of last week's high-standers basically went AWOL. Stay tuned, folks.

Chart courtesy of Last.fm.

The Top-20 tunes on WSUR: Starian Union Radio -

[What goes down in the Underground...]

Mondays start the new workweek. Wednesdays tend to differ, depending on if I need to work or not--usually I'm off, and usually visiting "Uncle" Joseph. Thursdays is the Daughters of the King meeting night. Fridays and Saturdays are normally hectic--never the same drama twice. Sundays = Church day. I update the blog accordingly, with a rant or two, the occasional music post, and sometimes the most random nonsuch.

So stay tuned, because things are fixing to get interesting... and, save your forks--the best is yet to come...
