Happy Halloween!! ~ Chapter 185

Keeping it short:

Song of the day is "The Damned Don't Cry" by Visage.

And the pic of the day... well...

Halloween Cheers to one and all!! :-)

30 October 2008

Hallowthursdayweenie!!

Yup, welcome to the special day-before-Halloween edition of the Thursday Tradition here in the Underground. First though I do need to apologise to y'all for kinda being semi-AWOL this week--between trying to put a costume together [Mew-Mew, where the ish is that scarf, good gracious!!] and working too much [9-hour days, anyone?], I think the only two people who know I'm still alive and what-not are Roboter and Kit.

Just so I get this out of the way, for starters:

The Song of the Week ~
From the Indie Intelligence Files - This song's been getting airplay in the indie/alternative station here in town these past couple of weeks. I just FINALLY found this today. Ben Folds had his new album released about a month ago, and this track off that album features Regina Spektor, whom I'd never really heard of until I heard this song. The song is almost addicting if not for the song I'm currently listening to at the moment!!
"You Don't Know Me" - Ben Folds featuring Regina Spektor

Now, I've a fairly interesting, slightly vague announcement--I am NOT incorperating the Random 20 into this week's StarMix this time around, but I *will* note the Old-School Alternation Song of the Week. Considering that this is a particularly unique mix, and the fact of the matter being that of all ocassions this is Halloween, I think it's proper time some of the finest from the Old-School Alternative/Goth got its fair day here in the Underground.

"The Queen Is Dead" - The Smiths

"People Are People" - Depeche Mode

"She's Lost Control" - Joy Division

"Harley David [Son of a B!tch]" - Bollock Brothers

"It's A Sin" - Pet Shop Boys

"Procession" - New Order

"Love My Way" - The Psychedelic Furs

"Don't Go" - Yazoo

"The Funeral Party" - The Cure

"Headhunter" - Front 242

*Song of the Week - Old-School Alternation*
"The Damned Don't Cry" - Visage

"Desperate But Not Serious" - Adam Ant

"Adorations" - Killing Joke

"More" - Sisters of Mercy

"Lovesong" - The Cure

"West End Girls" - Pet Shop Boys

"Bela Lugosi's Dead" - Bauhaus

"Cuts You Up" - Peter Murphy

"Cities In Dust" - Siouxsie and the Banshees

[This is for Roboter, who heard only the highly-abridged version this past Sunday on Sunday Night Vinyl.]
"This Corrosion" - Sisters of Mercy

[This almost goes without saying.]
"Enjoy The Silence" - Depeche Mode

"Every Day Is Halloween" - Ministry

So I got in about 21--no, correction. 22 songs... way to go me!

*yes, i edited it. forgot to add the smiths. lol.*

At the moment in the meantime I need to get a hold of Mew-Mew and see if she's got my Scarf ready to go. I sure as hell hope she does because otherwise I'll have to get to bed early and get to Wal*Mart early to get safety pins and three scarves...

*sigh* Somehow, I'm already concerned for tomorrow. Oh dear.

Until the next round...

Chapter 184 ~ Oops... FAIL!

Seriously. I think I can consider today to be a proper Oops... FAIL.

After a mostly calm yet rainy morning [calm unless you count two drive-thru headsets going dysfunctional on me within the first half hour!], one of the transformers in the north end of town went dead at a quarter to 8 this morning. Which meant it was pen and paper for taking orders, running out of food in the cabinets. Was I humored that the power went out? Uhm, of course not. Because considering the power went out from Plymouth Avenue northward, yeah. Burger King's down. Perkin's was down. Hell, everything was down. About an hour later power went back up, but that didn't last too long as, about twenty minutes later, power went down. And when that happened I fell into a minor fit: "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!"

So, needless to say, I was mad-livid.

After another five minutes [AND a total of 3 sheets of paper in which all the orders without the computers were taken, computed AND checked off] the power finally resumed for the rest of the day, but it was all a chaotic rush, not really stopping even as I got on break [finally] around 10 A.M. And of course, by then I was already ill-tempered enough yet still calm, but I hadn't eaten. And irritable. For the better part of the two hours since the power returned a second time, the credit card machine for the new system was down. So we had to utelise the old-system card machine. Now take into consideration the fact that there is only ONE functioning old-system machine. And of all places, they had to put it in MY BACK-DRIVE-THRU AREA. And between Kels who was my D.T. cashier, and the three order-takers in the Front Counter area... yeah. That minor concept was an Oops... FAIL!! Then again it possibly always was, as that's usually what happens once the new-system card machine is down.

Meanwhile there were some homeless people out and about, and at least TWICE Joel had to ward them off. One of them I saw wandering through the parking lot FIVE times. In the meanwhile the Lunch Rush went a bit on the tense side, as Joel was having a minor fit with the Grill Team and Rabbit was pushing us a bit hard to get 116 cars through the hour; the only saving grace was a visit from my own wonderful dad in the drive-thru. He had a Big Mac meal [dad, if you're reading this, i thought you never ate big macs; since when!?], and was very happy to see me. I introduced him to my best bud Sissy-Boo [Michelle], and she was VERY humored to be introduced to my dad. [She was my order-taker while I took cash for the rush hour today.] After I printed out the report I was elated that we did that very 116, but then my joy was a bit shot when, of all things, turns out Rabbit's goal was the oft- and highly-coveted 120 cars. So I was a bit ill-nerved when we'd missed out by only 4 cars.

And so, I have decided that, work-wise, this week was a proper Oops... FAIL!!

*sigh* I think I need a song. Except, can't figure out which one I want. Meh. I'm too tired.

I think some time hanging out with newly-single Kit might be the second-wind I need. Stat.

Stay safe in the meantime, and until the next round...

23 October 2008

OMFG. I'm actually on time!

Happy Thursday, Underground Citizens. Time for the traditional Musicholics Anonymous get-together. First things first:

The Starian Union Radio Random 20 for Thursday 23 October 2008
1] "Sub-Culture" - New Order
2] "Every Day Is Halloween" - Ministry

6] "Harley David [Son of a B!tch]" - Bollock Brothers
7] "Cities In Dust" - Siouxsie and the Banshees
8] "New York" - Micro Chip League
9] "A.K.A. I-D-I-O-T" - The Hives

17] "Nummern/Computerwelt 2" - Kraftwerk
18] "Procession" - New Order
19] "Mayor Of Simpleton" - XTC
20] "Baby Got Back" - Sir Mix-A-Lot

The Song of the Week is a proper classic from at least 25 years ago. And it's one of Roboter's favorite songs even as he's heard the song God knows HOW MANY TIMES playing GTA:VC [grand theft auto - vice city]. In any case, this is for him...
"Hip Hop Be Bop" [12" version] - Man Parrish

...and for myself, I chose this. After all, this is going out to the id10t's that think I'm weaker than I look. To them, two words: FCUK OFF. Everyone else, feel free to join me in cranking this up a good few notches. Yes, a first here in the Underground: TWO Songs of the Week for this week! [And yes, I absolutely love this song. Seriously.]
"A.K.A. I-D-I-O-T" - The Hives

And, as next week is Halloweek, here's a preview for next week's Random 20, which will be the 80's version of the Indie StarMix I made earlier this week. Except, in the usual tradition of the indie/alternative/gothic self that I am, you can expect Siouxsie, the Order, the Division, the Boys, Mr. Ant, and these two bands among the unique for the grand Halloween tradition:
"Jumping Someone Else's Train" - The Cure

"Bela Lugosi's Dead" - Bauhaus

And adding another proper classic from the Old-School Indie Intelligence files, this might also make the roster for Halloween this year. Sunday afternoon Erik had the Afternoon Version of my favorite radio program, Sunday Night Vinyl, and his track list for Sunday... well, let's just say it was the best SNV in practically ages. Not that every SNV was the awesomeness, but this past Sunday was truly THE Awesomeness!! He played this particular classic [as well as The Cure's "Jumping Someone Else's Train" which I just posted a moment ago], and I was pleasantly thrilled. So I think I could add this to the Halloween roster this year, no?
"Headhunter" - Front 242

The same with this track, one of the great goth classics too. I'm actually considering this as well for the Halloween mix. Because HEY! you can't have Halloween without the proper touch of goth. And out of all the songs this band's done, this is my favorite. God I love this song.
"More" - The Sisters of Mercy

And I think that will do it for this week! I had Carillon practice yesterday and, after a rather successful go at it Sunday, I'm almost ready for this Sunday upcoming. My main concern however is the whimsical concept of something properly termed Operation Doctor Scarf!!

Otherwise, enjoy the tunage, and keep out of trouble until the next round...

Chapter 183 ~ Slow down...? SLOW DOWN!?

WTF DO YOU MEAN FOR ME TO SLOW DOWN!?

*sigh* So I've been trying to get stuff done, get errands run, remake my Indie Intelligence Playlist to something virtually enjoyable no matter what the song [it's my Halloween StarMix for this year, oddly enough], catch up on e-mail and Facebook and MySpace, get caught up on the 4 or 5 forums I post in, AND I had a very late lunch. Store Manager Joel's birthday is tomorrow but he's going to be having a minor operation at the hospital, so he was here today, and I helped the crew wish him the best. Got paid, walked about 45 minutes to the credit union, FINALLY had lunch at around... er... quarter-to-4? But the real tick-off is when one of the regulars who I really don't like, mostly because he stops by at breakfast rush and almost ALWAYS wants to start a conversation with me but I'm focused on getting my drive-thru line going, spots me walking homeward and waves.

Customer - "Hey Sunshine, how are you?"
Me - "As usual. Busy."
Customer - "Aww, so I can't even stop you for a moment just to have a chat?"
Me - "I'm sorry but no, I have things to do and I need to hurry home."
Customer - "But can't you just slow down for a moment?"
Me - *with a glare* - "...I'm sorry but, slowing down is a term that does not exist in my lexicon. Look, I gotta go. I'll see you tomorrow."
Customer - *as I'm walking away, homebound* - "But Sunshine--"
Me - *looking back but still walking away* - "I'll see you tomorrow!!"

*sigh* I swear, there is no such thing as slowing down in my lexicon. Most of the time anyway.

The [revised] Indie Intelligence StarMix
1] "A-Punk" - Vampire Weekend
2] "I Feel It All" [Britt from Spoon Remix] - Feist
3] "Radiation Vibe" - Fountains of Wayne
4] "Finding Out True Love Is Blind" - Louis XIV
5] "Lost In The Supermarket" - The Clash
6] "Lights" - The Editors
7] "Hang Me Up To Dry" - Cold War Kids
8] "Here's Where The Story Ends" - The Sundays
9] "Blue Monday '88" - New Order
10] "Handle With Care" - Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins
11] "Sex On Fire" - Kings of Leon
12] "Young Folks" - Peter Bjorn and John
13] "Monster Hospital" - Metric
14] "Little Thoughts" - Bloc Party
15] "Australia" [Peter Bjorn and John Remix] - The Shins
16] "Mayor of Simpleton" - XTC
17] "NWA" - The Terrible Sea
18] "No One's Gonna Love You" - Band of Horses
19] "Simple Economics" - Pedro the Lion
20] "Finish Line" - Michael

*sigh* Okay. I think I can declare myself dead to the rest of the world with the exception of Roboter. Good night in the meantime and stay your best behavior until the next round...

~ me

P.S. ~ Before I do get my downtime I would love the world to know that yesterday was the anniversary that Roboter and I became friends on Facebook. And to think it all began with our minor obsession with Kraftwerk!! Who knew it would turn to something more? In any case it's been a madcap year, and so I say [quoting him], here's to more years of laughs and happiness!

Roboter, you are sooo the wonderful, and I love you all the more for it. Here's to the day we finally meet face to face. And God willing it be sooner than later--much sooner!!

17 October 2008

Chapter 182 ~ Wow. Just, wow.

For one, it's been a very long week and I really had been behind on some things. Currently one of my friends brought her laptop over, so I'm taking a minor break from Carillon practice to update this. And considering I haven't been able to get much done because of the circumstances of this week, I think it's proper timing to have myself a minor dose of chill. But first, some issues to address and get over with.

First and foremost, this week at work: OH. MY. GOD. Where did it come from, and how did I get all caught up in the ruins? No, don't even consider thinking as to what to answer me with. Just, don't.

Second, I now somewhat have a new schedule of things, at least as of this month anyway. Take notes at your own peril!, is my only choice of words for this.
Monday ~ Work in the morning to early afternoon. Other errands if necessary. Pay day every two weeks.
Tuesday ~ Work. Other errands if necessary.
Wednesday ~ Work. Practicing with the Carillon in the afternoon, potluck dinner/fellowship @ 5:30 P.M., Discipleship classes 6:15 to 7:15-7:30-ish.
Thursday ~ Work. Music day in the Underground.
Friday ~ Work. Practicing with the Carillon in the afternoon.
Saturday ~ Work. Other errands if necessary.
Sunday ~ [rarely work.] Wake up @ 7:45 A.M., shower/get dressed, be in Choir room for practice @ 9 [practice 9-10:30], drop off choral music play the Carillon after Choir practice for about 15-20 minutes, get to the Service just minutes before 11; post-Recessional Hymn [final hymn of the service] literally RUN to the Carillon to play another 15-20 minutes. Lunch at Quizno's. Nap time. In some occasions, family dinner at the Parents'.
That's usually the scheme of things these days. No, I don't work 6 days a week but, my days off change faster than a switch of hands in a round of Crazy UNO. As you may already know I'm on Carillon duty for the month, so that's just how things are going to be, probably for another two weeks. Maybe. All Saints' Weekend is in two weeks and, that Sunday is 2 November, All Souls Day [though we'll be celebrating All Saints, usually 1 November, that Sunday], so I may have to ask Mrs. Hays if she'll need me to play that particular Sunday as well. I already have a bit of an idea as to what Hymns to play for that Sunday.

Third, I know there'd been some people I probably ticked off in some form or another this week, so for that I'd like to post a proper and public apology. I didn't mean to offend you in any way I may have, whether by a loss of temper or a minor snarkitude or a problematic misunderstanding. About high time I really called myself out on that.

*whew* Alright! That said, it's time for what should've been done yesterday if not for absolute exhaustion and two break-downs [one during the last 10 minutes of my break at work and the other when, having argued unnecessarily with Roboter, I cried myself to sleep--don't worry, we've reconciled!!]...

This week's Starian Union Radio spotlight is on the likes of New Order's Stephen Morris and his wife Gillian Gilbert, also known by die-hard NO fans as The Other Two.

No, Ninth Doctor, I'm not. ^_^

So the Random 20 is actually going to be a Top 10 this week, with a few Honorable Mentions as well. Now considering they'd only released two albums [The Other Two & You in 1993 and Superhighways in 1999] and that's all I have to work with, and as I'm not quite fond of EVERY track they've released as TO2, I hope that this countdown does some proper justice. And this time I'm adding the commentary AND the music so you can understand my whimsey.

On that note...
The Starian Union Radio Top 10 for yesterday, Thursday 16 October 2008
Theme ~ Top 10 The Other Two tracks

The first time I heard this tune, something kinda tugged at my heartstrings. This is the only TO2 track that ever made me cry. I think it's because of the lyrics, particularly to the chorus. Gillian, vocal-wise, soars proper in this tune. And in my opinion it's infectious enough that it's my all-time fave TO2 tune.
1] "Super Highways" [from Superhighways]

A proper love song? If you but just listen to the lyrics, all of it. Just wonderful. No wonder I love this song so damn much!
2] "New Horizons" [from Superhighways]

The song that kinda started it all for TO2, really. And it was also the first song I'd heard from them. It almost kinda holds a proper, special place in my heart. And it's currently playing as I'm typing up at the moment!
3] "Tasty Fish" [from The Other Two & You]

Was listening to this earlier this morning, full blast. Between the song itself, the lyrics, and the chilly air [6o-someodd-F anyone?], it kinda gave me a lift and helped fight the tears in the eyes. Particularly the chorus:
Get out of bed, feel the world in your head,
The new day has come and you keep moving on.
Hold on to your heartbeat,
Move out of the backseat.

Fantastic, really. Truly fantastic.
4] "Hello" [from Superhighways]

Adrenaline rush to work via an instrumental tune? Uhm, hell yeah. That's all I can say about this rack, really.
5] "Ninth Configuration" [from The Other Two & You]

The video for this song is just... well... Awwies-worthy in my opinion. Seriously. Go YouTube it. And it's actually one of my fave tracks of the album it comes from.
6] "Selfish" [from The Other Two & You]

Melanie from Sub-Sub provided the guest vocals on two tracks on Superhighways, and between the two tracks this is my favorite. I was listening to that song yesterday morning, felt almost like I could really soar. I didn't think that high would crash as the day progressed though. In any case, this is a rather powerful song.
7] "You Can Fly" *vocals by Melanie of Sub-Sub* [from Superhighways]

Quaint little story as only Gillian and Steve, through lyrics and music, can only weave, sew and seam together.
8] "Cold Feet" [from Superhighways]

I can't really put my finger on it but there's something very, very gorgeous about this track. Between the melodies and Gillian's vocals. I don't know. It's just... well... lush. For a lack of better words.
9] "The River" [from Superhighways]

Everytime I play this song, I'm almost always singing along to the catchy little chorus. It really is a great tune.
10] "The Greatest Thing" [from The Other Two & You]

For a few Honorable Mentions, I'll start with this fun track, which includes audio snippets from the Factory Records documentary Play At Home which, I seriously recommend you go YouTube as soon as you can. One helluva fun documentary.
"Loved It [The Other Track]" [from The Other Two & You]

Okay, fair warning--you might find yourself singing along somehow.
"Innocence" [from The Other Two & You]

That done, one thing more to post today before resuming Carillon practice: A couple of YouTubes featuring one of the most lovable robots ever: K9!

And on that note... God I gotta get back to practice...

Until the next round...

Chapter 181 ~ Adrenaline Rush

So this weekend's been a bit, erm, awkward. But it still ended on a good note, as there's been this song I'm falling madly in love with. So much so that it's my Song of the Week for this week, and I also realised I forgot to post the main tune for last week!

Thanks to Roboter for one insane 8-hour conversation between last night and this morning ranging a good slew of topics--that's become the fuel for the adrenaline rush I'm in right now. Time for some tunage.

The Song of the Week for last week comes from a group I'll get into more this week on Thursday. And in fact, out of all the New Order side projects, they're my favorite. As well as the most-underrated. I really love this group, and out of the two albums they had, this song ranks as my all-time favorite. More about them this Thursday but for now, here's a taste...
"Super Highways" - The Other Two

And because I'm a nice person, another TO2 track, my favorite of their instrumental stuff...
"Ninth Configuration" - The Other Two

For this week, the Song of the Week... well, when I first did the Indie Intelligence '08 playlist I had "Fans" by Kings of Leon on there. Little did I realise after I did the mix that their latest track would come out. And I absolutely love this song. So my goal this week is to redo my Indie Intelligence playlist; this could be my Halloween mix for the year. *lol* But anywho, back to the Song of the Week, which is just fcuking awesome in my opinion. And if the song's title doesn't get your attention...
"Sex On Fire" - Kings of Leon

As usual, jam-packed week ahead. Discipleship class Wednesday night, Carillon practice on Thursday and/or Friday. Church on Sunday. The usual routine.

*whew!!* I swear, life begins at 25!!

Chapter 180 ~ Some Things Never Change...

So what better time to finally try to get stuff done than today, on my day off? Right now there's much preparing for the Homecoming Parade for DeLand High School [main street in Downtown shut down!], and I still need to practice a bit on the Carillon even though I'm not sure I'll be able to get out early from work on Sunday.

But enough about that. It's [a day late but still] time for my Starian Union Radio Top 20 Songs of All Time. Yes, my 25 years of musical listening-up has finally fully come to this point! And if you think you've heard it all, well...

For this special edition of the Starian Union Radio 20 I've posted the songs for you all to listen to. And, this is one of those rare instances when an Honorable Mention is highly due, so there's a handful of Honorable Mentions, particularly from my childhood, that should be posted here!

1] "Transmission" - Joy Division

2] "The Perfect Kiss" - New Order

3] "Trans-Europe Express" - Kraftwerk

4] "Hey Sandy" - Polaris

5] "Don't Change" - INXS

6] "Black Star" - Radiohead

7] "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" - The Smiths

8] "Little Thoughts" - Bloc Party

9] "Funk Dat" - Sagat

10] "NWA" - The Terrible Sea

11] "White Riot" - The Clash

12] "Live Forever" - Oasis

13] "Cities In Dust" - Siouxsie and the Banshees

14] "Blitzkrieg Bop" - The Ramones

17] "Whip It" - Devo

18] "Closing Time" - Semisonic

Honorable Mentions]
"Counting Blue Cars" - Dishwalla

"Birdhouse In Your Soul" - They Might Be Giants

"Wish You Were Here" - Pink Floyd

"Shock The Monkey" - Peter Gabriel

"I'm Gonna Be [500 Miles]" - The Proclaimers

You know, that's counting as 25, with those Honorable Mentions! I think that rounds out this uber-special Starian Union Radio special. :-)

My assignment of the week has been accomplished--in the words of my boyfriend, HUZZAH!!

*ETA - edited to add - The Dark Romantics and The Terrible Sea are two local bands from the Orlando area that I saw in concert sometime two years ago. TTS broke up near the end of '06, TDR has an album out [I forgot the name though]; they're both excellent bands. I think I'll do a locals special next week, music wise...*

A New Quarter-Century ~ Chapter 179

First and foremost, THANKS AND CHEERS TO EVERYONE who sent me cheerful birthday wishes this past weekend. I'm just getting around to checking them all, as I'd been busy with friends and family most if not the entire weekend through. I haven't had such a blessed Birthday as was this weekend. Roboter stayed up until 12:15 Saturday morning to wish me a Happy Birthday, alongside 3 Tom Baker Doctor Who posters and the entire Tom Baker DW saga [with the exception of Robot which I already own]--which is definitely going to keep me busy post-work hours for a while! The parents and siblings [except for Robbie who couldn't make it] and Grandparents threw a party for me yesterday, which was fun in itself.

I think the surprising present had to be from DJ though... she made me a freckin' YouTube!! How freckin' ace is that??

And a friend in the David Tennant forum, Kaylee, made this for me, which was quite a thrill for me being fangirly and such...
*clicky thumbnail!!*

Thursday I'll be posting my top 20 songs of all time for the Random 20, which won't be quite so random...!

Until the next round... cheers!!

03 October 2008

codename ~ SUNSHINE

A lot of life to have lived in a quarter-century.

Sure, I've come a long way since I came to earth on Tuesday 4 October 1983, but it's been an interesting long way! When I was 21 I didn't think I'd live to see this particular tomorrow [and I actually almost landed true to my word at the time], but here I am. Almost 25.

Almost 25.

It almost scares me but, I'm happy I've made it this far! I have wonderful parents, both my natural parents and their own spouses [my StepParents]; I have three younger siblings that I just love, at least 3 sets of Grandparents still alive, at least 1 Great-Grandparent [Grams from my StepMom's Mom's side] still alive. And a story or two of my Great-Grandmother Ana Julia who died 25 years, 6 months ago, from breast cancer--I'm wearing a pink ribbon all month in her memory. And the memory of my Great-Grandpa Leo [affectionately known in our family as "Pipo"], who's watching over me and the family now [he died some 7 years ago]. I have dear friends, my 10 best friends God can provide [Moonhead, Pouncer, Hikari, Kit and Hector, Sissy Boo and Sissy Too, Neko Ich and Neko Ni, and Neonlicht (yes, Louise has a codename now at last!!)], a crazy but lovable bunch of coworkers and Managers [yes, even my favorite Goober that is Manager Joshua], and my Jewish extended family. I have a calling to my Choir and the Carillon, to the Episcopal frame of faith, a home within God's Church. And I have my boyfriend Roboter--long distance be damned, he is among the closest to my heart; God knows what-all, good and bad, we'd been through, and we're still standing by each other.

I really have been blessed these past 25 years, when you give it some thought.

However, before I go further I need to stop for one moment and think back to 16 souls that, in the past 6 months, have altered my attitude a little about life and death...

~ Rabbit's mom
~ Edward's niece
~ Connie's husband
~ Corky's husband
~ Hester
~ Juan's dad
~ Jeff's dad
~ Taubin's two pet dogs Lulu and Bozo
~ Ben's dog [forgot the name--sorry]
~ Sissy Too's dad
~ Normita's brother
~ Sarah's daughter's cousin
~ Paul's dad
~ Andie's dad
~ ...and I know there was one more--I will amend this post [or make a new one] as soon as I get the list back [Sissy Boo's borrowing it at the moment]

May they and all the souls of the faithful departed,
by the grace and mercy of God,
rest in peace. + Amen.

ALRIGHT! back to brighter things. Like tomorrow!

Tomorrow while Roboter's at a newscaster's convention I'll be with Sissy Boo working on a special project for work with pictures. And then I don't know what-all I'll be doing for the rest of the day as of yet. But I know there'll be a lot of music involved, that's for sure. And pictures. I promise there'll be pictures! :-)

So... well, I guess that's it. There isn't much else to say other than, I'd already welcomed October with open arms and a baseball bat. It's been a bitch being 24, between the deaths and the break-ups; but there'd also been tight-knit friendships and a love that can handle the 1,200 miles too! So hey, life may suck at times, but there's still hope. I still have things I want to do within this next year.

Like have Roboter over in Florida. Or visit him up in New York.

So, here's to the first 25 years,
and another 25--and MANY MORE--to come!

Let's celebrate--I propose the first toast:

!!לחיים
L'chaim--to life!!

That last fear, by the way, I got over it with lots of help from my [Step]Mom and her fellow Nurses. :-) That should tell y'all something.

Besides the regular fears above, there are many things I prefer to be nowhere-near-afraid of.

I am not afraid of
being myself,
being a Child of God,
the work I do
and the certain sense of pride there is in that,
living life to the best I can live it,
being a working-class punk,
falling in love with someone 1,200 miles away,
telling the people I love that I love 'em,
standing up to what I believe in,
educating people whether in music or in life,
making people laugh just by acting semi-stupid,
taking certain risks in certain situations,
speaking my mind as loud as certain situations dictate,
being positively nuts,
being a tough girl if need be,
being honest with others,
being honest with myself,
being loved,
being human.

I have fears, and then there's my regularly-scheduled courageous self. And I'd like to stay that way.

Today, this is my best friend...

This is the Carillon at Saint B's. The Saint Cecilia Guild is responsible for playing the Carillon on Sunday mornings, before and after the 11 A.M. service. I am one of the members of said Guild, and last night at Church for dinner and Discipleship class our leader, Lee, was talking a bit with me and Sue [fellow Alto and Carillonneur--that's the proper term for a Carillon player] and, on the spot, asked me to be Carillonneur for this month. Slightly taken aback but humored nonetheless I was like, "Sure! I'll do it!"

Well, today I was more than thrilled to be reunited with the Carillon in more than a year--almost two years to be honest, let alone since I started! In fact, it's made my day--allow me to explain my day otherwise in the following two sentences:

And just how the hell did I end up on everyone's "Get Pissed Off At" lists for today? WTF did I do!?

For some reason, a good majority of, well, everybody has been upset at me over something or another; about 95% of it wasn't even my fault, while the other 5% had to be something or another that I did or didn't mean to do, whether I was working or not. And God only knows what I did to get everyone so upset at me today--I JUST DON'T FCUKING GET IT!! And even the boyfriend got a bit minor snap-happy, just moments after I arrived at Church to practice on the Carillon.

The only noise I've kinda made since was the noise of the Carillon Bells, as it seems that today is just NOT the kind of day for me to be opening my mouth. And I feel that considering the way today's been going, I'm opting to just keep my mouth shut today. Who knows? Maybe I'll walk another half an hour after this back to the Carillon [if the doors at Canterbury House are still open!] and practice some more. I need to refamiliarise myself with it as I'll be mad-rushing between Choir practice, then Carillon, then running to the Church with seconds before the Processional Hymn to spare, the Service itself, and then after the Recessional Hymn high-tail it back to the Carillon to play for some 15-20 minutes. So OF COURSE I'll need a nap first thing I get home.

*sigh* But anywho, yeah, that's what had me going today. And I am not amused.

*One minor note--the boyfriend DID apologise by the way. I've forgiven him, but I haven't texted him yet. The way today's been going I think that the best course of action at the moment is to just keep my damn mouth shut!*

There are tears to cry, but even after the storm the clouds of chaos clear. And it's been a rough time being 24, but my head's a lot clearer since I had yesterday's codename blogpost. I really needed to vent. I really needed to say what I felt should've been said.

That said, I have to admit, I'm a lot better now than I was yesterday. God's got my back, who the hell do I have to fear?

That's right: absolutely NOTHING.

I'm welcoming this month with open arms and a baseball bat. I think I'm ready to take on this month in full force. Who knows? This might be my month!

Welcome, oh welcome October. Let the fun begin!

P.S. Thanks to the many strong handful of y'all who stood by me yesterday and are standing by me now; you know who you are. And I love you all. Thank you for understanding the state I'd been in, and for the simple whim of being there. You have no idea how much this has lifted me up, knowing that I'm not alone. Cheers!

[What goes down in the Underground...]

Mondays start the new workweek. Wednesdays tend to differ, depending on if I need to work or not--usually I'm off, and usually visiting "Uncle" Joseph. Thursdays is the Daughters of the King meeting night. Fridays and Saturdays are normally hectic--never the same drama twice. Sundays = Church day. I update the blog accordingly, with a rant or two, the occasional music post, and sometimes the most random nonsuch.

So stay tuned, because things are fixing to get interesting... and, save your forks--the best is yet to come...
