Chapter 166 ~ Here's to 5 years of putting the NUT in the NUTHOUSE!! *smirk!*

Alright, before I get to the fun stuff, right now it's 96 bloody degrees and with the heat index it feels like 101. No wonder I'm sweating as I just returned to the Underground from work. Bleah.

And now, on to a bit more sillier news! :-)

As we Underground Citizens know, today's my 5-year anniversary of being the resident goofball of my workplace. Sure the day was enough to piss me off to the maximum but then, right around lunch rush we all at the store had a surprise visitor. To which I can only say, Thank you, Sir, for making my 5 years...
OMFG IT'S RONALD!!

Yep, that would be Ronald McDonald. He was so thrilled to meet someone on the day of her 5-year anniversary. It's all brill! ^_^

After work I treated myself to a chocolate-dipped ice-cream cone. Unfortunately, I had to flip it upside-down [the chocolate-covered ice cream] onto the cone. And of course, whenever Sunshine's got ice cream, we have a problem. Really.

So one of my coworkers [who shall remained unnamed!] caught me in this one today.

Heh... Upside-down Chocolate-dipped ice cream cone: FAIL!
--GIMME BACK MY CAMERA HOMEY!!

So you can tell that yes, today did end on a much better note. *lol*

And FINALLY... hey Pouncer, you know anything about THIS going on in Frat Row?
...what the ish!?

If so, let me know stat. Thanks, Pounce.

And FINALLY, yes, I did make more Doctor Who icons. And most of 'em are devoted to the brill 4th Doctor portrayed by Tom Baker. That and a new sig!

And there's Romana!! My current avatar on the Tom Baker.tv forum By the way I say 'Hold that thought' waaay too much Scarf-love!!
And for the sig *clicky thumbnail*

*whee!!*/*whew!!* All done now. God I need a nap now...

*to everyone who's helped bear the load of work-drama these past five years, you know who you are. thank you so much. i <3 you all! cheers!!*

Chapter 165 ~ Year 5, Day 366: The Eve

So tomorrow it'll be five years to the day, 8 A.M. being the hour, that I started working at McDonald's. I really can't imagine that it's been 5 years since I was just a naive, shy, awful quiet yet talkative Lobby girl. And I'd never guess that five years later I'd be a Crew Trainer and the resident Drive-thru Heroine of the four stores in this town. And to be honest, it's been an insane 5 years being the brilliant Miss Sunshine of North DeLand. A lot has happened.

Particularly within my second year in which I almost lost my battle with depression.

Today one of my regulars stopped by my drive-thru and, looking at my hat and tie, asked me if I still collected pins [a good tradition started within those brill five years]. After I gave the affirmative she gave me what has now become a new, special momento for me of the inner battles I had to overcome those five years to be where I am today. And it holds such specialty that I had it fixed on a safety pin [it's a punk thing] on my workshirt, right over my heart.

Turns out, that customer is a mental-health counsellor. And that pin shows her--and my--worthy cause:
Fighting for better mental health

I have officially codenamed this pin my 5th-Anniversary of Joy pin, for the pain I had to face and fight to bring the joy to others, as well as a reminder of the joy they bring in return when I need it the most. In times of darkest despair.

Which, speaking of, a fellow David Tennant forum poster, Nichola, is facing a slight bout with depression herself. And I'm wearing this pin especially for her right now, and keeping her in my thoughts and prayers.

Ah well. Tomorrow is my 5th Anniversary of being Sunshine. I think some New Order, Kraftwerk, and indie-rock are in order for the soundtrack to what promises to be a very interesting day tomorrow...

Onward to what the next 5 years will bring...

Chapter 163 ~ Okay, so I'm a day late... sorry!!

But I really was just too busy yesterday. Worked, helped out as office manager, went shopping with Mom. And when I got home I was too sore, too tired, and simply was ready to go to bed. So I do apologise if y'all went on here last night and there was no Top 20. Rest assured though...

*whew* Alright, that done... well... I need to vent just a little. See, these days my coworkers, managers AND customers... well, they expect me to always have that damn glowing Superwoman S across my chest.

Problem is, the glowing S fades over time. I'm not the Superwoman that I once was, or that everyone nowadays expects of me. And I hate to admit this but, there are times... there are days when I wish I didn't have that glowing S across my chest. There really are days that I wish I didn't have to be shoved upon by everyone, just to try to do everything and anything at the same time.

Oh and, there are some people who ask, "When are you ever going to be a Manager??" I answer, "Whenever they get me out of this Drive-thru." Unfortunately, there are also people who think that Drive-thru is, as one customer put it last week, "where Miss Sunshine belongs." And sadly, that's why I can't get onward to management--because, simply put, no-one wants me to leave the Drive-thru. To the customers I'm the Drive-thru version of Superwoman.

And to be honest with you, it sucks.

And FURTHERMORE, as if I haven't been in Quarter-Life-Crisis mode enough, today is the anniversary of my first actual canine buddy Baloo's death. I think it's been 3 or 4 years. Today, also, my friend Taubin on Opacity.us said farewell to his beloved pet dog. So the death toll is now at 8 and, with a little over 2 months before my Quarter-centennial, I'm really, really nerve-wrecked right now. Part of me just wants to cry, part of me really needs to get away from everything, and part of me actually doesn't care anymore for the moment.

For once I'd like to have an actual break from my Quarter-Life Crisis, please, THANK YOU SO BLOODY MUCH.

*sigh* It's been a really rough past 10 months, hasn't it?

[What goes down in the Underground...]

Mondays start the new workweek. Wednesdays tend to differ, depending on if I need to work or not--usually I'm off, and usually visiting "Uncle" Joseph. Thursdays is the Daughters of the King meeting night. Fridays and Saturdays are normally hectic--never the same drama twice. Sundays = Church day. I update the blog accordingly, with a rant or two, the occasional music post, and sometimes the most random nonsuch.

So stay tuned, because things are fixing to get interesting... and, save your forks--the best is yet to come...
