The Thursday Tradition #5!

Alrighty then, gang. Before I get down to the tunage of the day, please, PLEASE excuse me and allow me to admit just how much of an absolute absent-minded ID10T I've been. To put it this way, everyone remembers I did the Thursday Tradition on Toad the Wet Sprocket last week, right? Well... does anyone remember Chapter 202? Aptly titled Temperance? Scroll down a bit, then scroll back up.

...okay, back? Good.

Because, yes... I posted the Spotlight on them. TWICE. >.< Epic FAIL on my part, and major apologies on a repeat performance, fellow Citizens of the Underground. That just about goes to show y'all just how much I was really paying attention between trying to update a blog and preparing for a visit from Roboter last Friday. Go me.

Now, that said, two bands have my almost-undivided attention this week inside the Tradition. One goes by the name of Better Than Ezra, the other goes by the name of Semisonic. This week there will be NO Random 20 Countdown. Instead it's gonna be ten tunes, five from each band as far as my favorites are concerned.

And with that, let's kick things back to the 90's a bit, shall we?

Band: Better Than Ezra ~
~ "In the Blood" *Song of the Week 1/2*

~ "Good"

~ "Rosealia"

~ "Normal Town"

~ "Desperately Wanting"

Band: Semisonic ~
~ "Delicious"

~ "Closing Time"

~ "Singing In My Sleep"

~ "Made To Last"

~ "This Will Be My Year" *Song of the Week 2/2*

Aaannnddd, there ya go, folks! Ten quality tunes from the 90's, which probably helped make this not so bad an era. *LOL* You know, I should make May's Thursday Traditions all 90's related, sooo: next week's Thursday Tradition spotlight will be on Pearl Jam!

Yes, Pearl Jam. I *am* a fan of Pearl Jam. What?

So, this is how I'm looking at it for the next month, Thursday Tradition-wise:
Thursday 7 May ~ Pearl Jam
Thursday 14 May ~ Oasis
Thursday 21 May ~ Radiohead
Thursday 28 May ~ The Verve

Yes, Pearl Jam, and then the three bands who shaped my school years. I am definitely looking forward to Thursdays this May!! [Which, by the way, starts tomorrow. Already!] In the meantime, enjoy the tunage! I have a funny feeling this is gonna be a fun twist to the Tradition in the coming weeks ahead...

And on that bombshell... Until the next round...

Chapter 202 ~ Temperance

Today, for the first time in ages, I saw my ex Siren. And I totally overcame him like one would not believe.

Yes, he came over to the apartment this afternoon so we could finally get some proper closure to this whole mess that started a year ago, when we got together this time last year. Much of the hour was spent in silence, before we talked about our situation over this on our own ends. After that I was kind of gracious enough to forgive him [memo to all--it's the Christian thing to do!], to which conversation took a slightly lighter term, including the debate of the term that was "normal." Everything was fine until the next thing I knew he was trying to tickle me to make me laugh and distract me. To which I reminded myself mentally of the Tarot card that was Temperance--or, Fortitude. Or Strength. So far so good, until one thing led to another, and the next thing I knew I had continued to succeed in the battle against Siren by blocking his advances by using my arms as a barrier. I think I did win this battle and, perhaps, the war altogether when he got pissed off to the point where he simply just got up and left. No "I'll see you later" or anything.

The whole point of the barrier, was the reminder to him [and I think it sunk in real good] that, I was as good as truly no longer his, that he couldn't have his way with me anymore and assume he'd get away with it. That this was truly over, and that he had to face the consequences and repurcussions of breaking my heart. Inasmuch as he admitted the fact that he missed me, it doesn't constitute as grounds whatsoever for me to be seen as his own little amusement.

You know, I had hoped that it wouldn't have to come to that, but it seems that I was wrong. And Siren's the only ex I've ever had with such a problem addressed to me as such. I think it's finally time this war was as good as over... inasmuch as I'm sorry that the conversation ended with another person I pissed off this month [long story, don't ask!], I don't regret standing up for myself in such a manner. In fact, I'm glad I toughened up the way I did. And you know, maybe I am better off this way.

I don't think he ever realised just how much he really did hurt me until I did what I did.

In the end, I know, it's going to hurt losing a friend like this, but if he can't understand the way things are and have to be, then I don't know what else to say other than,

Don't let my apartment door hit your ass on the way out.

On a lighter note, Tuesday night at work was our first Kids Night, with me and Sissy-Two's daughter Courtney on face-painting duty. Best three hours EVER! Which also means that now my Tuesday nights are full also because in the morning I'll be working 5-11 A.M., and I'll be back 5-8 P.M. for Kids Night. Joel brought his three daughters, Melissa and her sister Rosa brought their kids, we all got our faces painted. It was an absolute blast--Roboter, when you get down here, you WILL get your face painted by Yours Truly!

Thursday nights I'm also booked from 7-8 P.M. because of the Daughters of the King meetings--yes, I was once training to be a part of the D.O.K. some three years back [I think I blogged about it a bit on MySpace but I don't remember], then fell away when work scheduling became hectic. But at the beginning of Lent this year [late February] I vowed to myself I would get back into the D.O.K., and the girls were more than happy to have me back in the sisterhood.

This past Thursday I had devotionals for the D.O.K. meeting for the week and, as this month was the 5 year anniversary of my first, last and only suicide attempt, I shared with them my story, albeit in the third person so as to remain anonymous until it was time to reveal the scar on my left arm from some 10 years back and tell the girls who that young girl was. The fellow sisters were amazed and happy that I survived and am still here. One sister, JoAnn, compared my arm to the numbers of the WWII prisoners' arms--a strong testimony to the world of survival. So, inasmuch as I am not entirely proud of the pain I suffered, I'm proud that I could finally bring closure to the pain of a time of five years. I felt a lot better too after telling them about it--I was very happy, and fighting tears too!

So, Tuesdays through Thursdays my nights are full. Oh, and Sunday nights too, because of dinner with the parents.

Meanwhile it's Stetson Homecoming this weekend, and the block party is tonight. Welcome back to StarKnight Lieutenant Pouncer who'll be in town for the weekend to celebrate Homecoming!

And on that note, until the next round...

codename ~ BELOVED

To be honest, I was going to wait another week or so before this particular post, but as of lately, let's be honest here:

my heart hasn't felt this sound in nearly ages.

I'm slowly approaching the quarter-century [less than two weeks to go!] and, for all I care, I can't get the words out right. Not when I realize that, there's been someone there for me all this time--11 months and 3 days since he and I met to be exact!! And that, all the while that I'd faced the likes of Cupid being rather stupid... that chances are that we never really stopped thinking about each other...

...isn't that right, Roboter?

So yes, I've had my share of tears--I'd been a girlfriend and all the while been dumped. Time and time again. In the end of things I ended up the friend. And of all my ex-boyfriends, only two are among my best friends in the entire universe--
~ Pouncer [yes, my best buddy, we dated, got serious, broke up... and realised that we were better as the best of friends after all, and still are to this day!]
~ Hikari [who every once in a while takes me out to lunch so we can catch up on life's drama in our respective corners of the world].

And in the midst of my tears I kept thinking, hoping that there was someone out in this world for me. And I realised some weeks ago that, there really is someone out there for me.

1,200 miles out there for me, to be exact!

For those of you who cheered, It's Roboter, Captain!!, give yourself a cookie and tell 'em I said it was okay. Hell, have two! Or gosh! why not just share the whole damn cookie jar!? I'm in love! I'M IN LOVE FOR GOODNESS' SAKE!!

Because, no one else I know of could ever make me feel like life's worth holding on when the worst of it brings me to tears, when death crosses my path again and again. When work is unbearable on either end and all we can do is lift each other up somehow. When life's dilemmas cause headaches enough for the both of us.

Sunday 19 October will be the 1-year anniversary since--thank you Facebook!!--Roboter and I became friends. Over, of course, this group right here...
"Nummern/Computerwelt 2" - Kraftwerk

And between talking Ralf und Florian, Trans-Europa and the recent touring drama [*sigh* STILL no Florian...], after 11 months it's safe to say that, with constant communication a long-distance relationship CAN flourish!! And between the both of us, it's blossoming quite nicely.

Because after Siren broke up with me, mainly over the pointlessness of putting up with long distance [he was in Iowa when that happened... in June... uh-huh], I once thought we could've worked things out when he returned; that never happened because of the implications [full-time student + full-time worker + long-distance between deland and merritt island *WHICH ISN'T EVEN MUCH!!* = next-to-no time for me = siren ~ that's my equation and i'm sticking to it!]. And yet now he's with someone new. But you know... he doesn't matter to me anymore. Not when I realise that, I've proven him wrong over long-distance relationships. And I'm even happier NOW than when I was dating him!! When Siren broke up with me, Roboter was the first to know, and all the while as things were going from bad to worse, he [Roboter] was there for me through the better and not-so-great of times. And we're still holding each other's hand somehow through all of this.

Siren, if you only knew just how much I learned from you so much--that I probably didn't mean as much to you as I thought I meant. That you'd unexpectedly, unnecessarily disregard me as your internship progressed. That you'd break up with me when I didn't need to go through that untimely mess. That you'd ultimately break my heart, over a stupid triviality. Well... yes, you moved on. And thank the Lord above, so have I. And happily, because you made me not give up over someone who, I've realised, has been on my side all along, more than you'll ever be for me. He and I have made the effort--more than you'd expect. Just thought I'd send you a little anti-love song your way...
"Forget I Ever Knew You" - Clay Aiken

*WHEW!!* Alright, that done, trying to type and talk with my sweetheart is no easy matter right now but, considering it was crazy enough we were on the phone for, er, 8 hours and 15 minutes NONSTOP yesterday... yeah. We had quite a conversation over an assortment of topics, as usual. But it lasted from the time I got home from Church to the time I went to bed at around 10. And it was all the more fun; there seems to be more to talk about now than back in December, though back then we had developed some sort of crush on each other. But now we've intergrated each other into each other's little respective corners of the world, between taking pics of our workstations to texting in the middle of work out of the blue to--my favorite--sharing pictures of our neighborhoods.

I kinda told him last night that, the day we finally meet [and we're praying that God willing it's SOON!!] things are going to be off the wall!! And the way we go about our lives, the way we are with each other, to me it's as if almost anything is possible. 1,200 miles may separate us but, love is the shortest distance between both our hearts. And between us our hearts are as close as it's gonna get!

So yes, I think it is time to say with honest conviction that, I love Roboter and I cannot lie!! Yes, I know, I'm crazy, but so is he and it takes one crazy soul to know one. If only you heard what craziness of the humorous sort occurs in any conversation we have...!

I think this calls for a StarMix for the two of us, which the rest of you Underground Citizens can sing along to and join in the cheer. What say y'all, fancy a sing-along? Or even better, fancy a jelly baby?

Thursdays Roboter goes about his post-work time taking on grocery shopping. I usually listen to this tune on his behalf. I think he likes the song...?
"Lost In The Supermarket" - The Clash

And because he absofreckin'lutely LOVES THIS SONG!!
"Satisfaction" - Benny Benassi

From our good friend Louise, whom I need to find a proper codename for, by the way; I'm sure we'll probably listen to this on our first date. *sigh*
"Neon Lights/Neonlicht" - Kraftwerk

We've had our share of mishaps and ill-temperament at work, we had our minor quarter-life crises, and we're still hangin' on in there for dear life. I'm sending this one out to him 'cause, even though this may be an alt-country cover of a really good song, the lyrics still mean enough.
"Handle With Care" - Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins

...oh and, hey Roboter! Everyone! how 'bout a sing-along??
"I'm Gonna Be [500 Miles]" - The Proclaimers

Besides this being my Song of the Week, this is by far my favorite love song. No, seriously. And we all thought being weird was enough on my end. But hell, I've got my own standards for love songs!!
"Mayor Of Simpleton" - XTC

And speaking of, to close out this playlist, more Kraftwerk! Hey, it was what we had in common in the first place, so why not?
"Computer Love" - Kraftwerk

I can say without thinking twice that, long distance be damned, I'm in love, and I'm loved, and I know it...

AND I FRECKIN' LOVE IT!!

Chapter 173 ~ Why's A Mouse When It Spins...!?

WARNING: This could be the most downright fucking happy blogpost that I've done in a very, very long time. A lot of music, a lot of pictures, a lot of sass, and a whole darn lot of class was utilized in the making of this blogpost. Sit your butt right on down and prepare to laugh as Princess Fireball turns into Princess Butterball.

["No Love Lost" - Warsaw (Joy Division)]

["Invisible Sun" - The Police]

As you can tell, I've got no tears whatsoever for today. That was done last night. And last night, like the ex that is Kaguya, is in the past. Where it belongs.

And now, onto much better things on the supposed Day of Tears...

First and foremost, a customer was kinda rude this morning, acted like a jerk--just like the first time he came about [this was the second time i'd seen him in the drive-thru]. Except, instead of calling me "Sir" like he did that time, this time he called me a bitch!! I took that as a compliment, smiled, and wished him a nice day. He told me to fuck off. I just rolled my eyes and said, "I'm sorry, but you're not my type." Oh, the look on his face... yeah, you can say that, I had to put some jerk in his place, stat. I had never felt so good about telling some customer who didn't know better off like that in a very, very long while. Go Princess Fireball!!

As Roboter put it best this morning, "Bazooka, kablamo!"

Right now it's freckin' 92F, but it feels like bloody 100 outside. It's God-awful hot out there. Not exactly my type of weather. And the hell with being-used-to-wearing-longsleeved-turtlenecks-in-summertime: *NEWS FLASH, HOMEYS--IT'S DOGGONE HAWT OUTSIDE!!!* Mark my words, boys and girls of the Underground--unless you can handle the heat, stay away from the outdoors.

["Black Star" - Radiohead]

This past Sunday my big brother Ani had to go lecture at the Stetson Graduate Center in Celebration, a PRETTY SMALL TOWN just 77 miles from DeLand. I got kinda bored after taking a couple of pics while Ani gave his lecture. Well, besides worrying myself dull about Roboter. *shrug* But, all in all, the weather held up well until Ani tried to drive home after we stopped outside the Presbyterian Church there, where the Carillon was ringing [perfect timing]--can we say, erm, DOWNPOUR!?

Anywho, here are the pics, all bloody 20 of 'em!! ~

*favorite!!*

Secret admirers = very, VERY annoying. Most of 'em are locals. And most of 'em don't understand. And that's why I don't give 'em the time of day. Including one recent admirer that, turns it, is actually one of my regulars. *sigh* I really don't do well with the locals. At all. I still think my heart's kind of... erm... out-of-state...

["Finding Out True Love Is Blind" - Louis XIV]

Oh and, guess what we now have in Back Drive-Thru... check this pretty thing out!!

Its noise level: nil. Its main purpose: to keep the back D-T cool when it's almost turning into a freckin' oven. And does Princess Fireball love it? You better bloody believe I do!! Michelle and I teamed up for this rescue-mission, and Store Manager Joel absolutely LOVES it. And do we blame him? Absolutely NOT.

Speaking of the store, today we'd been exceptionally busy, but we sure kicked ass--
7-8 A.M. [breakfast rush]: 113 cars
11 A.M. - noon: 100 cars [and that usually NEVER happens!]
Noon - 1 P.M.: 109 cars

So yep, we've been busy, hyped up on sugar [again, thank you michelle!!], and just absofreckin'lutely happy. Especially me. Because today a year ago I started crying at least once a day for over a week straight--and this year, I'm not crying over that ex anymore...!

["Cellphone's Dead" - Beck]

Today was the first early-release day of the year. And that means, school's back in session!! Yay!!/Oh bloody hell no...

Last night's concert at Stetson, with Dr. Rickman: BRILLIANT!! His colleague Dr. Rodriguez, who had the first half of the concert, was awesome on the guitar. His 25-year legacy is the Guitar program at Stetson; best piece was this one where he was joined by Dr. Jones on the harpsichord. Dr. Rickman meanwhile marked his 25-year legacy as pianist and professor. Now on Sundays I usually witness Dr. Rickman the Organist--last night I was amazed at Dr. Rickman the Pianist. And, as he pulled me aside one moment to give me a minor note at the reception, "This is my main gig!" A brilliant night, one worth wearing heels and staying up kind of past my bedtime for!!

And last but not least tomorrow is our favorite Underground Countdown, the Starian Union Radio Top 20. Of course, odds are I'll also be hanging out with Kit and her boyfriend tomorrow, catching up on life and whatnot. This should be interesting. I should still be in one piece for the most part. Every once in a while it's good to spend time with friends so, hopefully they'll be around and available and what-not.

Oh and, one thing more--since I'm just too darn nice [and because I love though it's annoying... sometimes], three songs for Roboter.

HEY!! everyone count along now: ein, zwei, drei, vier...

["Nummern/Computerwelt 2 (Numbers/Computer World 2)" - Kraftwerk]

Unfortunately I can't find the original by the Traveling Wilburys, but I love the alt-country cover just as much. I think this song kinda describes us these past 2 and a 1/2 weeks. The song's been a staple on the WSRU Top 20 too...

["Handle With Care" - Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins]

And finally, because... well... what the hell? After whatever mess this past weekend may have become, I still <3 Roboter and I bloody cannot lie. Of course, there is going to be someone about good and ready to bitch up and call me out on this, but let's ask Princess Fireball if she really, really cares right now...

["Computer Love" - Kraftwerk]

*WHEW!!* Okay, updated and what-not. Time for dinner and, yes, I *need* to reblue my hair. The blue's been fairly fading--it's turning indigo... still some blue... with a minor hint of green...

Uh, yeah, I think it's time to go now.

Happy Liberated-Heart Day. To hell with the tears.

Until the next round [er, tomorrow's countdown!], cheers!!

Chapter 113: Revisiting My Gothic Side For The Night...

One band: Mira.

Mira's Website. Check 'em out.

I hadn't heard of them until late 2002/early 2003, when I bought the "Projekt: Gothic" music sampler. Heard their song "Cayman." Fell in love with it instantly. And then I hunted down their album "Mira", which is now one of my top-10 favorite albums of all time. They have a new album out, "there i go daydreamer" and, from the two tracks I've heard, it sounds downright impressive. It's fantabulous.

I guess that's my musical recommendation for the night. 'Nuff said, end of.

Until the next round...

Chapter 110: More Battling With the Beloved iPod...

So I'm fighting and scathing through my old Fileden files and, found me some classics that I'd long since forgotten, that should be brought back into my musical landscape and, hence, introduced to my iPod. Like "Video 586" and "Don't Do It" by New Order, "Shiny Happy People" by R.E.M., and "Suedehead" and "The Last of the Famous International Playboys" by Morrissey.

I can't wait for this iPod to be fantabulously updated. I really can't.

Rediscovering some stuff I haven't heard since... gosh, last year at some point, it feels amazing. Like uncovering something of the past. Something that's been a part of me for a while. In this case, some of my New Order remixes that I downloaded last year. Last freckin' year. And I haven't heard them in almost that long.

-_-'

I can't wait for this iPod to be fantabulously updated.

So, I'm gonna fight with this crazy thing, and until the next round, get yourself some quality noise that you miss, if you haven't heard them in so long.

Quality advice from the person living it!

~ "Sunshine"

18 March 2008

Chapter 104: Can You Feel the Pulse?

Lately, I've been fighting with and reconstructing this one particular playlist on my iPod aptly titled Pulse. And at the moment I'm plotting to return some attention to one album in particular that, thanks to my happy singlehood for some odd reason, is giving me a good reason to feel like a sex goddess.

The album is "Mezzanine." The group is Massive Attack.

1] Angel
2] Risingson
3] Teardrop [with Liz Fraser of the Cocteau Twins]
4] Inertia Creeps
5] Exchange
6] Disolved Girl
7] Man Next Door
8] Black Milk [with Liz Fraser of the Cocteau Twins]
9] Mezzanine
10] Group Four
11] [Exchange]

Now, seriously, if you were to be in my situation [hello, IT girl, anyone?], you'd need a good soundtrack. I'm adding the entire damn album to this. Because yes, it's that good. And considering that I've got a helluva lot to do and a whole lot even more going on, chances are, I'd better get a good soundtrack for this.

Let's face it, I've got an interesting mix of electro and indie. And as it's capable of making me dance, it rightly deserves to be in my iPod.

So, can you feel the Pulse? I know I do.

Until the next round...

Chapter 103: The Music Roster Post, Part 2 - From WSUR... it's the Top 10!

Thank God for the iPod, StarMixes and music recommendations from friends. It's the return of WSUR--Starian Union Radio!

Chapter 83b: Something about last night...

...lovely enough for me to capture the moment:

Last night, 9:54 P.M., on my way home from dinner at my job. The moon and, just below it, a not-too-harmful cloud.

Very beautiful moment. I think this song fits it perfect:

I don't know why... I mean, maybe I just miss my ex [really, I shouldn't, even though he's half the world away and happily doing just fine!!], or maybe I wanted to talk to Antenna [which I did after I got to my Apartment]. Or maybe I just miss this song, as I haven't heard it in ages. Or maybe...

maybe I'm just confused about my heart?

I shouldn't be--I'm fine on my own as is...

...right?

Until the next round...

Chapter Birthyear [83]: Hey Kraftwerk, can ya make me a Roboter-me?

Sometimes, I swear, I wish I was cloned.

No, really. I do. I swear it.

These days, guys have been asking me out, trying to hit on me, and today was [unfortunately] no exception. Now, lately, with my short haircut and my small chest I could probably pass as a guy in certain situations if I wear the necessary clothing. Which in this case, it was a boys size medium shirt with Super Mario on it and a red pair of guys size extra-small pants that fit me pretty well. Well, odd enough guys apparently can figure out who's a chick and who isn't, and they figured me out as a chick.

In fact, one of the guys was oogling me while I was walking through Downtown DeLand earlier this afternoon. I was heading to Coffee Bistro for lunch, had my lunch, was heading outside. He was sitting OUTSIDE the coffeehouse. He wanted to talk to me because, from how he put it, I had "caught his eye" and looked like the kind of person he'd want to get to know. I in the meanwhile mentally begged to differ... big time.

So we talked for 5 minutes--he's older than me [duh], likes country music [ick], thinks I'm hawt [uh?], and wants to take me out to dinner sometime [no!]. All those five minutes, I noted the following...

1] He's not my type--hello? Cowboy!? WTF!?
2] He's never heard of Kraftwerk... or New Order, Joy Division, or new wave or punk rock or goth. He has, however, heard of AFI, and thinks they're goth. News flash: I. Don't. Think. So.
3] He thinks I might enjoy riding in his truck, among other things. [Okay creep, what other things!? Riding you!? I sooo don't think so!!]
4] He couldn't hold up an intelligent conversation because he kept talking about dinner and what I liked and where I liked to go out and whatnot. I didn't even have much to say in the matter.

All in all, I politely declined. My exact words:

"I'm sorry but you're just not my type. I don't date anti-Roboter. And anyway, I'm not interested in romantic relationships. But I figured I'd let you know where I stand. Have a nice day."

I then gave a humble grin and walked AWAY from him. I giggled to myself and then thought, WTF was THAT all about!?

I swear, if I ever have a Roboter-version of me, it has to look like this:

...yes, like this. Exactly like this, or as close to it as possible. I'll send that to all the dates, I'll let the guys have fun with that version of me. I just won't let them have their way with, well, me.

I mean, I don't mean to be harsh about it, but it's true.

These days, I'd rather dress as a guy just to keep the guys at bay. I mean, it probably shows I'm at times a guy's guy kind of gal, but let's be serious for a moment. I've given up on love, right? It's even proven that I'm a helluva lot happier being single than fussing myself over finding the so-called One. So why, dear God tell me! why is it guys just DON'T get that part of the memo?

Recalling the circumstances of just why I'm done with love--

1] Last relationship lasted nearly 3 months. We all know who the ex is.
2] Everytime I break up with someone, the ex finds someone even better and, even possibly, their 'happily ever after' with that person.
3] All the good ones are taken...
4] ...and I'm stuck with the dorks from Loserville.
5] These days, happy couples sort-of sicken me a little.
6] No one understands me really, except for my two best friends [StarKnights Moonhead and Pouncer] and StarKnight Antenna [yes, I'm declaring him a StarKnight already!].

Probably the only person who really DOES understand me at the moment... Antenna... he's all the way in New York. And remember--we just met. But we get along very, very well. Evidence--we talked on the phone last night for about an hour or so, and he's hilarious with his Ralf and Florian impersonations. Very freckin' funny. But we just get along so well talking about Kraftwerk. And unfortunately, that's probably the only friend I have that likes Kraftwerk just as much as I do.

You know, it must be time for a song...

...yep, non-Kraftwerk Song of the Week: "Funk Dat" by Sagat.

FUNK DAT!

Question...
Why is it that every time
I'm walking down the street,
Somebody wants to stop me
Just to give me a flyer?

C'mon man...
FUNK DAT!
Get out of my way!

Question...
Why is it that every time
I'm walking to the bank,
The tellers look at me
Like I'm the one that robbed them last week?

C'mon man...
FUNK DAT!
What are you looking at?

Question...
Why is it that every time
I turn on the radio,
I hear the same five songs
fifteen times a day for three months?

Man...
FUNK DAT!
Get a new DJ!

Question...
Why is it that bums ask me for money,
When I ain't got none?
What is it an "in" thing or something,
"Let me remind this dude he ain't got no money." Huh?

Man...
FUNK DAT!
Get a job!

You know,
Every time I see my neighboor,
She tells me to stay out of trouble,
The other one looks at me like
I'm the one that got her daughter strung out.

C'mon man...
FUNK DAT!
What are you looking at?

Seems like every time it never fails,
It never fails...
I'm just chillin' in my crib,
Minding my own business,
And somebody calls me just to talk about nothing...

FUNK DAT!
Get a life!

Question...
Why is it that when I go out to a night club,
Only the ugly chicks wanna step to me,
I mean like I'm ugly or something, huh?
What do you mean, huh?

FUNK DAT!
Get outta my face!

Already, I feel a helluva lot better.

So, with that in mind... Question...

Why is it that no matter how I try to be happy on my own,
Some guy's gotta mess with me?
Gee, like I'm some sex object or something?

What the hell man...
FUNK DAT!!
Just get lost, boy!!

...hee... I love this song...

Until the next round...

Chapter 77: Moving on strongly, holding on tightly.

...progress is being made, slowly but surely.

Song of the night: "So Many People" [extended dance mix] by Hubert Kah.

Joshua's hoping he doesn't have to work tomorrow [like myself] so that we could hang out and do something. So far, we've talked music. He likes classic rock while I'm more of an old-school goth/new wave/technopop [Kraftwerk!!]/punk rock girl. And, apparently, he likes what he sees in me. So far.

I mean, he's a nice guy, he's pretty cool. We don't talk a whole lot but, he's alright. He's rather handsome too. And, well, yeah, he seems really nice to just hang out with. But still--news flash!! I'm not going to hold my hopes up.

...yeah, still sort of holding on to my heart for dear life, all while pressing forward to brighter things. And to do that takes a whole lot of guts!!

Especially with my heart still in semi-fragments. Yeah, I'm still mending it.

Meanwhile, turns out the meeting's on NEXT Monday, not yesterday. Dear God, I was warped out of my head. Thankfully, I still have another week to finish up some SOC's and get that ready for Assistant Manager Larry, who'll be administering the meeting on Monday.

I asked Manager Joel about when my brown shirt [my junior manager shirt] was gonna be in last night, he said "Soon." So, that's something for me to look forward to, big time.

Speaking of, I also had the thrill of running into Manager Barb last night. We managed to catch up on things and she's been waiting patiently for the day that I'd be promoted to some level of management!! She's excited for me, and I don't blame her at all.

In other news, yes, I'm still oogling Ralf's steel-blue eyes. Beeeeeeautiful, beautiful steel-blue eyes. *sigh* I swear, I could just drown in them. Just, waaawww.

[I'm oogle-eyed over a German who's made technopop for over 3 decades--is that wrong?? Please tell me it's not wrong!!

And finally, I happily have an iPod Nano. 4 GB. Got all my Kraftwerk in it [geez, speak of that handsome German's band, why not!? *facepalm*]

...is it stupid of me to think of Ralf more than of Joshua!? No one ever told me it was wrong!!

Maybe... maybe I'm just wierd like that. And I guess I'm just happy to be that way.

Until the next round...

Chapter 76: Loony, loopy, and... and... yeah, that. [Finally, an update, and some music.]

Alright, may I be the first to admit, I am one madcap semi-out-of-it goofball and a half. No joke.

Thursday [which was the last y'all heard from me on here] I got up at noon, ran some errands, posted here, went to dinner, got back to the apartment.

And I didn't sleep a damn bit.

So needless to say I was wound up and insane for a good 24 hours. Though, oddly enough, I didn't take a nap until after I got home, around 2 P.M. or so. Got back up at 7 P.M., only to get called back in to work half an hour later!! So pretty much I ended up with another 10-hour workday to boot--worked 8-10:30, then had dinner and finally called it a night. Was in bed by 11:30, only to have to be up at 4 yesterday morning!!

At this point my body clock is all messed up a bit. Last night I went to bed at 7, woke up at 1 this morning, went back to sleep an hour later, got back up two and a half hours later to go to work!!

Plus, add to the fact of the matter that Daylight Savings Time is going to end soon... and basically, before we know it, my body clock's gonna be screwed. Again.

Oh and, the Managers are planning to turn me into a Service Manager. w00t!! More on that as the week progresses--I have a meeting tomorrow afternoon. Meh.

In other news, one of my hopeless crushes [his name's Joshua--and no, he's not my Manager, thank God!!] actually asked me out this week, but we haven't made plans to hang out as of yet, mostly because of my odd schedule. I mean, yeah. Yay me. Just that I'm not getting my hopes up--especially after all I'd been through. And I'm sure my ex is bound to say something. Well, maybe. If he's not too darn busy between studying his nerves shot and/or getting his sportsaholic fix to read this. *sarcasm* What!? It's true [yes, for once, I am bashing the ex, and that's as close to hating someone that I now have hardly any feelings for as it's gonna get]...

With that in mind, a new music playlist for a Semi-Pathetic Being...

Starts off a bit cheerful, with the extended dance remix of "So Many People" by Hubert Kah, going darker and more somber with some music that's pulled me through these past few months. Well, besides Kraftwerk of course. Except, this playlist has NO Kraftwerk. Yeah, it's that glum.

There are certain songs on there that I nowadays don't listen to much anymore, mostly because of certain memories of certain people. However, it's not that I have any regrets--I don't have any regrets. I just... I just hate the circumstances I almost always fall in.

So, I might as well add another soon-to-be-ex-boyfriend to the list... *sigh*

Until the next round...

Chapter 64: If you love Kraftwerk, you're really gonna love the newest StarMix...

...yep, y'all guessed it. It's got Kraftwerk. And plenty of!!

Behold, the new Trans-Underground soundtrack: Trans-Unterirdisch Express

Note: this playlist above is only the StarMix [plug-this-sucka-mix-in-da-boombox!] version. The full soundtrack is at the bottom of the blog. For best effect, put the mix on random, and crank it up full blast. Sing along if you know the words no matter what the language.

Chapter 49: Somehow, I just have this strange hope. [Yes, I am recovering well...]

[For the latest musical noise that I'm listening to, check out the 'What I've been listening to lately...' section of the blog, just added today.]

You know, my coworker Lana has a point about something.

Perhaps, the boyfriend just assumes that I already know, and thus he need not tell me that 5-letter word as often as we used to say. Among other odd theories she has, I guess that she's been the only person I can actually, humbly talk to, and she'll try to cheer me up with some sweet, hopeful answer. I mean, if it wasn't for Lana [who's also in Junior Management training, as well as planning to dye her hair purple!!] I would've probably sunk deeper into the abyss of my emotional 'solar eclipse' from God-knows-where.

The summer cold is 98% gone [thank. God. for. that.], but I'm still taking the meds for good measure. Because, yes, I'm strange like that. What else is new?

I don't know... I guess the only main worry is to brace myself for the weeks ahead. Confused? Here's the timeline of upcoming events--

Monday 27 August - Work, most likely.
Friday 31 August - Last day of August, which means it's EoM [End of the Month] time. Joel'll be in the system for most of the day. And since it's a Friday, chaos is bound to happen.
Saturday 1 September - The first day of September.
Monday 3 September - Labor Day. Ironically, I'll be at work that day.
Wednesday 5 September - Saint B's Choir returns! First rehearsal!
Friday 7 September - While it's a joyful day [boyfriend's birthday!], it'll actually be a depressing day because, that's when he leaves for Scotland. Expect me wearing black that day, Excelsians.
Saturday 8 September - Biggest Inspection of the year at my job. Yep, it's F.O.R./S.O.R. [Field/Station (or Store?) Operations Review] time, so for the next two weeks it's cleanaholics-R-us in North DeLand.

I'm going to be honest with you--I am not looking forward to these next two weeks. Sure I'll be in the company of some of the best friends I've come to know. And I'm sure we'll do alright during our Inspection. But...

I guess... I guess I just hurt inside. I'm not as headstrong about this as I used to be. I'm not as strong as I thought I was. In fact, I'm probably so much weaker than I could've been.

At the same time, I'm keeping this flame [which somehow died a little] in my heart alive. Not even all the tears I could cry, could quench this small, weary flame.

This isn't over. I've hung on this far, I've stayed far more loyal than a good majority of my coworkers [particularly those who recall me being the resident flirt!!] actually expected [they thought I was gonna flirt with every guy in town this summer--and boy were they sooo wrong!!]. I'm not backing down. I have to keep holding on to... well, whatever there is left to hang on to. As I once said, it isn't much, but damnit, when... when you love someone so much, even though the love from the other person seems to die and you don't really know why, but you keep on loving the person anyway... you know damn well in your heart there's still something, somehow, somewhere.

In my case, even though we don't talk very often anymore, mostly because of our lives possibly threatening to tear us apart, somehow, there has to be a light of hope in our hearts still for each other. There just has to be. God only knows how many tears I've shed, just because my heart hurts--JUST BECAUSE OF ALL THIS GOING ON!! I shouldn't have to aggrevate myself so much and yet... why?

I guess it's because I've forgotten that we both have lives. But that doesn't mean that we have to forget each other because of this... right?

*sigh* Meh, I guess all I can do is brace myself for the worst, while praying feverishly for the best. There's not much left I can do at this point, because he's two hours away, I've got no way of getting to him so I can see him, and he's getting ready to leave anyway. But I've got this, and I've got e-mail, so we will keep on keeping in touch. Just that, with everything that's been going on, and all that will be going on soon... you know... it is no wonder we don't talk much anymore. Because we're so busy with our lives, and so tired at the end of the day, that we probably don't even think to send a note or call the one we love and just talk with the person... to just tell that person 'I love you'...

to let the person know you still care, no matter the distance, no matter what happens.

Dear God, what I would give just to hear those words again, even if it was only once, but just to hear even that mere 5-lettered word that once upon a time was only a word that was used to tease the hell out of me!!

Just to hear words of love for even one moment more, even if it's across the wire.

Am I the only person here who feels this way? Am I really this hopeless?

Incubus - "I Miss You" (acoustic version)

[from the upcoming 'My Own Autumn 2007 - Brokenhearted' StarMix]

To see you when I wake up is a gift
I didn't think could be real
To know that you feel the same as I do
is a three-fold utopian dream
You do something to me
That I can't explain
So would I be out of line, If I said
I miss you

I see your picture, I smell your skin on
the empty pillow next to mine
You have only been gone ten days,
but already I am wasting away
I know I'll see you again
Whether far or soon
But I need you to know, that I care
And I miss you

If I really am this hopelessly in love with him, if the love I've given really did flight on in vain, if all the hope I've had for whatever's left of what we have has truly turned me into a complete and unfortunate fool, if love really is a lie...

then I hope to God I'm not the last to know.

Chapter 46: Germany has better noise than their soccer hooligans! [The noise: Kraftwerk.]

[Currently playing: 'Trans-Europe Express' and 'Metal on Metal' by Kraftwerk.]

[the men of kraftwerk, 1977.]

[This is a repost/reworking from the original blogpost on my NOOL blog. This is something a bit more lighthearted than the last Chapter, and if you haven't read that yet then check that before this!! Thanks!!]

Alright, I have a new secret addiction that's not-so-secret, and possibly a bit more fun and slightly more common, really. It's called Kraftwerk, and they've been making some seriously good electro music since the 70's. Quite possibly the best thing from Germany, really. [Okay, second in line is the current bishop of Rome, Pope Benedict XVI. But still!]

Just finished putting together my very first official Kraftwerk StarMix, so I'm giving a bit of the opinions on the track [as there's a good handful of them I've never heard for the first time!], and sharing the noise.

[the cover to the epic masterpiece 'trans-europe express' album.]

Y'all ready? All right then, here goes...

The Model (German version) ~ This is a neat track, though I've already heard the English version of 'The Model', which actually appears later on in this mix.

Aerodynamik (Remix) ~ I love this track. It's easily addictive and could possibly fill a dance floor real quick. Once played this, and everyone was like, 'WTF was that, Jenn!? That was awesome!!' This is from my first Kraftwerk StarMix last summer, which had only 6 songs on it at the time.

Trans-Europe Express ~ One of Kraftwerk's great classics, just something about all those synths coming together the way they did. And to think this came out in 1977--they knew damn well what they were doing putting this track together!! And wait a minute, didn't a bit of the song get sampled on 'Planet Rock' by Afrikaa Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force!? That sounded uber-familiar...

Metal on Metal ~ Whoa... the beat has my attention now, folks! Instantly addicted to this. Kind of sounds like metal being clankered around at first, in a sense. If you have no idea what I just meant, you need to listen to this track. It also has that little familiar melody from 'Trans-Europe Express' that was, I'm guessing, sampled on 'Planet Rock'. *Just noted: This song actually goes together with said 'Express'; song between them is 'Azbug', which I don't have, unfortunately.*

The Telephone Call ~ I fell in love with this song before the first minute was over. This is a classic Kraftwerk masterpiece yet a unacknowledged 80's treat. Wonderful stuff from the German quartet. :thumb:

Radioactivity ~ This was my first Kraftwerk song. Very interesting tidbits about the song if you get a listen to the lyrics. [For the lyrics, this would be the proper place, complete with German lyrics and even Morse!!] I loved it. It's still a great bilingual song too.

The Model (English version) ~ This is the English version of 'The Model', which ended up on my first Kraftwerk mix last summer. I didn't notice until last night that there was an English version and a German version. The song's the same. The difference is the language.

Tanzmusik ~ Whoa... where did THIS chipper piece of German noise come from?? Cheeky piano, then the beats, then it all comes together and what do you get? Quite possibly one of the happiest things to come out of these guys.

Pocket Calculator ~ A nice treat from the first Kraftwerk mix. Classic Kraftwerk at its cute/quirkiest.

Computer Love ~ Alright, alright, stop shooting Coldplay for playing off this song already!! And anyway, the original is always better than the copy-off. Most of the time. This is another favorite Kraftwerk tune of mine.

Tour de France ~ I never really gave much care to the original great bike race but, I do like this tune right here from the guys. You could probably watch the race to this music. Just a thought.

Popcorn ~ Whoooooaaaa, hellooooo technopop!! This could be the more upbeat cheekier pop version to 'Telephone'. Hell, I'm even tempted [and it usually doesn't do much to tempt me!] to dance like a complete fool to this! This is my second-favorite Kraftwerk song ever, which only leaves my all-time fave Kraftwerk song right below it...

Metropolis ~ This was and is my all-time favorite Kraftwerk song. Good start-off, bring on the beats and it's on. Pure addictive stuff. And a great way to cap off my official Kraftwerk mix!!

And now, the question I pose to the readers--what Kraftwerk songs do you think should go on the second list [should I plan one, and maybe I should, with fan faves instead of my own?], songs that didn't make the first full official cut here? Leave a comment or e-mail me or something.

[my favorite pic of the group, robot-esque or otherwise!]

Enjoy the noise. Until the next round, Cheers!!

~ 'Sunshine'

Chapter 45: Cupid, life, and the world... against me!? [As Morrissey put it once, it's war!!]

[Currently listening to XFM Manchester online. Good stuff.]

Alright, Excelsians. It seems that Cupid, life, and the world have declared war on me and my little fragile heart. So it wants a war? Fine, but they aren't gonna like me for it! Quite possibly, I could be their worst nightmare. Or not.

Meanwhile, a stupid yet sort-of sensible idea plinkered on my mind as I was heading to the Daigaku [University] library--I could make myself an absurd version of a promise ring. Goes as such--it'll serve as a reminder to be loyal to the boyfriend. Of course, if he calls it off [which I pray to God that does NOT happen, given the current circumstances], it'll also serve as a reminder that, once I put that shattered heart back up on the shelf, it's NOT leaving the shelf again. I'm just...

I'm just tired.

Cupid's treated me as a joke, life's been unfair and harsh, and the world might be succeeding in convincing one of us that this isn't going to work. So what better thing to do than to glare at said enemies, flip them the bird and say 'HEY! WOULD Y'ALL LIKE LEMON OR LIME WITH THAT PIECE OF ADVICE, BASTARDS!?' Of course, me being the so-called streetwise common sense, meh. Might as well take them on in full force. I'm ready.

It's just that, even a heart that glows with a warm light is extremely fragile--it's just a heart of glass that reflects the sun's bright rays. And that's probably the only proper way to describe a heart that loves with all it has--my heart that loves with all I have--a heart of pure, fragile glass.

I don't know. I guess I'm just bracing myself for the worst. Praying that I won't be overcome by the chaos that Cupid, life and the world throw at me at an unmerciful speed!

Somehow, I don't know where I really stand anymore in the heart of the boyfriend, really. Hell, that should be the last thing I ever should worry about but, as I am currently under the weather, and this week's been madcap with Store Manager Joel at the helm of North DeLand [my work], and as I'm about to rework my blue hair a bit later on, how on earth did this become my main concern again?

For the record, and for the heck and fun of it, the song of the day, as well as my battle cry:

Blur - "Song 2" ~ Come on, how could anyone not want to take on their worst enemy with a background track like "Song 2"!? In the words of My Chemical Romance, 'Hallelujah--LOCK AND LOAD!!'

And, for the boyfriend, in case this relationship somehow has drowned in the lost chaos of it all...

Tomihira - "Mr. Disco" ~ Yes, a cover of New Order's "Mr. Disco" except, this is one hell of an awesome cover. Just... pretty...

I'm just going to close with a reworked line from "Rubber Ring" by the Smiths--

Do you [still] love me like you used to?

Until the next round...

[What goes down in the Underground...]

Mondays start the new workweek. Wednesdays tend to differ, depending on if I need to work or not--usually I'm off, and usually visiting "Uncle" Joseph. Thursdays is the Daughters of the King meeting night. Fridays and Saturdays are normally hectic--never the same drama twice. Sundays = Church day. I update the blog accordingly, with a rant or two, the occasional music post, and sometimes the most random nonsuch.

So stay tuned, because things are fixing to get interesting... and, save your forks--the best is yet to come...
