Chapter 182 ~ Wow. Just, wow.
For one, it's been a very long week and I really had been behind on some things. Currently one of my friends brought her laptop over, so I'm taking a minor break from Carillon practice to update this. And considering I haven't been able to get much done because of the circumstances of this week, I think it's proper timing to have myself a minor dose of chill. But first, some issues to address and get over with.
First and foremost, this week at work: OH. MY. GOD. Where did it come from, and how did I get all caught up in the ruins? No, don't even consider thinking as to what to answer me with. Just, don't.
Second, I now somewhat have a new schedule of things, at least as of this month anyway. Take notes at your own peril!, is my only choice of words for this.
Monday ~ Work in the morning to early afternoon. Other errands if necessary. Pay day every two weeks.
Tuesday ~ Work. Other errands if necessary.
Wednesday ~ Work. Practicing with the Carillon in the afternoon, potluck dinner/fellowship @ 5:30 P.M., Discipleship classes 6:15 to 7:15-7:30-ish.
Thursday ~ Work. Music day in the Underground.
Friday ~ Work. Practicing with the Carillon in the afternoon.
Saturday ~ Work. Other errands if necessary.
Sunday ~ [rarely work.] Wake up @ 7:45 A.M., shower/get dressed, be in Choir room for practice @ 9 [practice 9-10:30], drop off choral music play the Carillon after Choir practice for about 15-20 minutes, get to the Service just minutes before 11; post-Recessional Hymn [final hymn of the service] literally RUN to the Carillon to play another 15-20 minutes. Lunch at Quizno's. Nap time. In some occasions, family dinner at the Parents'.
That's usually the scheme of things these days. No, I don't work 6 days a week but, my days off change faster than a switch of hands in a round of Crazy UNO. As you may already know I'm on Carillon duty for the month, so that's just how things are going to be, probably for another two weeks. Maybe. All Saints' Weekend is in two weeks and, that Sunday is 2 November, All Souls Day [though we'll be celebrating All Saints, usually 1 November, that Sunday], so I may have to ask Mrs. Hays if she'll need me to play that particular Sunday as well. I already have a bit of an idea as to what Hymns to play for that Sunday.
Third, I know there'd been some people I probably ticked off in some form or another this week, so for that I'd like to post a proper and public apology. I didn't mean to offend you in any way I may have, whether by a loss of temper or a minor snarkitude or a problematic misunderstanding. About high time I really called myself out on that.
*whew* Alright! That said, it's time for what should've been done yesterday if not for absolute exhaustion and two break-downs [one during the last 10 minutes of my break at work and the other when, having argued unnecessarily with Roboter, I cried myself to sleep--don't worry, we've reconciled!!]...
This week's Starian Union Radio spotlight is on the likes of New Order's Stephen Morris and his wife Gillian Gilbert, also known by die-hard NO fans as The Other Two.

So the Random 20 is actually going to be a Top 10 this week, with a few Honorable Mentions as well. Now considering they'd only released two albums [The Other Two & You in 1993 and Superhighways in 1999] and that's all I have to work with, and as I'm not quite fond of EVERY track they've released as TO2, I hope that this countdown does some proper justice. And this time I'm adding the commentary AND the music so you can understand my whimsey.

Theme ~ Top 10 The Other Two tracks
The first time I heard this tune, something kinda tugged at my heartstrings. This is the only TO2 track that ever made me cry. I think it's because of the lyrics, particularly to the chorus. Gillian, vocal-wise, soars proper in this tune. And in my opinion it's infectious enough that it's my all-time fave TO2 tune.
1] "Super Highways" [from Superhighways]
A proper love song? If you but just listen to the lyrics, all of it. Just wonderful. No wonder I love this song so damn much!
2] "New Horizons" [from Superhighways]
The song that kinda started it all for TO2, really. And it was also the first song I'd heard from them. It almost kinda holds a proper, special place in my heart. And it's currently playing as I'm typing up at the moment!
3] "Tasty Fish" [from The Other Two & You]
Was listening to this earlier this morning, full blast. Between the song itself, the lyrics, and the chilly air [6o-someodd-F anyone?], it kinda gave me a lift and helped fight the tears in the eyes. Particularly the chorus:
Get out of bed, feel the world in your head,
The new day has come and you keep moving on.
Hold on to your heartbeat,
Move out of the backseat.
Fantastic, really. Truly fantastic.
4] "Hello" [from Superhighways]
Adrenaline rush to work via an instrumental tune? Uhm, hell yeah. That's all I can say about this rack, really.
5] "Ninth Configuration" [from The Other Two & You]
The video for this song is just... well... Awwies-worthy in my opinion. Seriously. Go YouTube it. And it's actually one of my fave tracks of the album it comes from.
6] "Selfish" [from The Other Two & You]
Melanie from Sub-Sub provided the guest vocals on two tracks on Superhighways, and between the two tracks this is my favorite. I was listening to that song yesterday morning, felt almost like I could really soar. I didn't think that high would crash as the day progressed though. In any case, this is a rather powerful song.
7] "You Can Fly" *vocals by Melanie of Sub-Sub* [from Superhighways]
Quaint little story as only Gillian and Steve, through lyrics and music, can only weave, sew and seam together.
8] "Cold Feet" [from Superhighways]
I can't really put my finger on it but there's something very, very gorgeous about this track. Between the melodies and Gillian's vocals. I don't know. It's just... well... lush. For a lack of better words.
9] "The River" [from Superhighways]
Everytime I play this song, I'm almost always singing along to the catchy little chorus. It really is a great tune.
10] "The Greatest Thing" [from The Other Two & You]
For a few Honorable Mentions, I'll start with this fun track, which includes audio snippets from the Factory Records documentary Play At Home which, I seriously recommend you go YouTube as soon as you can. One helluva fun documentary.
"Loved It [The Other Track]" [from The Other Two & You]
Okay, fair warning--you might find yourself singing along somehow.
"Innocence" [from The Other Two & You]
That done, one thing more to post today before resuming Carillon practice: A couple of YouTubes featuring one of the most lovable robots ever: K9!

A New Quarter-Century ~ Chapter 179
First and foremost, THANKS AND CHEERS TO EVERYONE who sent me cheerful birthday wishes this past weekend. I'm just getting around to checking them all, as I'd been busy with friends and family most if not the entire weekend through. I haven't had such a blessed Birthday as was this weekend. Roboter stayed up until 12:15 Saturday morning to wish me a Happy Birthday, alongside 3 Tom Baker Doctor Who posters and the entire Tom Baker DW saga [with the exception of Robot which I already own]--which is definitely going to keep me busy post-work hours for a while! The parents and siblings [except for Robbie who couldn't make it] and Grandparents threw a party for me yesterday, which was fun in itself.
I think the surprising present had to be from DJ though... she made me a freckin' YouTube!! How freckin' ace is that??
And a friend in the David Tennant forum, Kaylee, made this for me, which was quite a thrill for me being fangirly and such...

codename ~ BELOVED
To be honest, I was going to wait another week or so before this particular post, but as of lately, let's be honest here:
my heart hasn't felt this sound in nearly ages.
I'm slowly approaching the quarter-century [less than two weeks to go!] and, for all I care, I can't get the words out right. Not when I realize that, there's been someone there for me all this time--11 months and 3 days since he and I met to be exact!! And that, all the while that I'd faced the likes of Cupid being rather stupid... that chances are that we never really stopped thinking about each other...
...isn't that right, Roboter?
So yes, I've had my share of tears--I'd been a girlfriend and all the while been dumped. Time and time again. In the end of things I ended up the friend. And of all my ex-boyfriends, only two are among my best friends in the entire universe--
~ Pouncer [yes, my best buddy, we dated, got serious, broke up... and realised that we were better as the best of friends after all, and still are to this day!]
~ Hikari [who every once in a while takes me out to lunch so we can catch up on life's drama in our respective corners of the world].
And in the midst of my tears I kept thinking, hoping that there was someone out in this world for me. And I realised some weeks ago that, there really is someone out there for me.
1,200 miles out there for me, to be exact!
For those of you who cheered, It's Roboter, Captain!!, give yourself a cookie and tell 'em I said it was okay. Hell, have two! Or gosh! why not just share the whole damn cookie jar!? I'm in love! I'M IN LOVE FOR GOODNESS' SAKE!!
Because, no one else I know of could ever make me feel like life's worth holding on when the worst of it brings me to tears, when death crosses my path again and again. When work is unbearable on either end and all we can do is lift each other up somehow. When life's dilemmas cause headaches enough for the both of us.
Sunday 19 October will be the 1-year anniversary since--thank you Facebook!!--Roboter and I became friends. Over, of course, this group right here...

And between talking Ralf und Florian, Trans-Europa and the recent touring drama [*sigh* STILL no Florian...], after 11 months it's safe to say that, with constant communication a long-distance relationship CAN flourish!! And between the both of us, it's blossoming quite nicely.
Because after Siren broke up with me, mainly over the pointlessness of putting up with long distance [he was in Iowa when that happened... in June... uh-huh], I once thought we could've worked things out when he returned; that never happened because of the implications [full-time student + full-time worker + long-distance between deland and merritt island *WHICH ISN'T EVEN MUCH!!* = next-to-no time for me = siren ~ that's my equation and i'm sticking to it!]. And yet now he's with someone new. But you know... he doesn't matter to me anymore. Not when I realise that, I've proven him wrong over long-distance relationships. And I'm even happier NOW than when I was dating him!! When Siren broke up with me, Roboter was the first to know, and all the while as things were going from bad to worse, he [Roboter] was there for me through the better and not-so-great of times. And we're still holding each other's hand somehow through all of this.
Siren, if you only knew just how much I learned from you so much--that I probably didn't mean as much to you as I thought I meant. That you'd unexpectedly, unnecessarily disregard me as your internship progressed. That you'd break up with me when I didn't need to go through that untimely mess. That you'd ultimately break my heart, over a stupid triviality. Well... yes, you moved on. And thank the Lord above, so have I. And happily, because you made me not give up over someone who, I've realised, has been on my side all along, more than you'll ever be for me. He and I have made the effort--more than you'd expect. Just thought I'd send you a little anti-love song your way...

*WHEW!!* Alright, that done, trying to type and talk with my sweetheart is no easy matter right now but, considering it was crazy enough we were on the phone for, er, 8 hours and 15 minutes NONSTOP yesterday... yeah. We had quite a conversation over an assortment of topics, as usual. But it lasted from the time I got home from Church to the time I went to bed at around 10. And it was all the more fun; there seems to be more to talk about now than back in December, though back then we had developed some sort of crush on each other. But now we've intergrated each other into each other's little respective corners of the world, between taking pics of our workstations to texting in the middle of work out of the blue to--my favorite--sharing pictures of our neighborhoods.
I kinda told him last night that, the day we finally meet [and we're praying that God willing it's SOON!!] things are going to be off the wall!! And the way we go about our lives, the way we are with each other, to me it's as if almost anything is possible. 1,200 miles may separate us but, love is the shortest distance between both our hearts. And between us our hearts are as close as it's gonna get!
So yes, I think it is time to say with honest conviction that, I love Roboter and I cannot lie!! Yes, I know, I'm crazy, but so is he and it takes one crazy soul to know one. If only you heard what craziness of the humorous sort occurs in any conversation we have...!
I think this calls for a StarMix for the two of us, which the rest of you Underground Citizens can sing along to and join in the cheer. What say y'all, fancy a sing-along? Or even better, fancy a jelly baby?

One of my favorite shows is Doctor Who. Duh. Everyone kinda knows that bit. Especially Roboter, and those who know who my two favorite Companions are.
Those who don't know, they're Sarah-Jane and Romana II.
For a nutty Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey, he's so the brill. The Doctor is just... well... the awesomeness. He travels in a time machine of sorts, aptly disguised as a 1950's blue police call box, codenamed the TARDIS--Time and Relative Dimensions in Space.
He rights wrongs, battles enemies, gains good friends here and there. When mortally wounded he regenerates--he can regenerate up to 12 times, for a total of 13 lives... which is also a proper reason why there've been many actors portraying the Doctor since it first aired on the BBC in 1963. His most formidable foes include the Master, the Cybermen, and the Daleks...
So far the Doctor's regenerated 9 times, a total of 10 Doctors so far, and hence 10 actors portraying him ~

Especially the tired part--Roboter himself would know. He's had to work a hectic shift this past week AND next week, and then it'll be back to his regular work-time. But anywho. Chapter 168 ~ Why... why oh f*cking why... [That and more Whotastic silliness!]
You know, there are a lot of reasons why I'm in a slightly ill-tempered mood as of lately.
To the citizens of the countries of Russia and Georgia, GET A FCUKING GRIP ON YOURSELVES!!
I could care less about the Olympics right now. I could care less at the fact that I have to be back at work tomorrow morning. I could even care less about the highly-annoying secret admirer I have at the moment. I could care less about all these things. I just want a day where the term "war" just refuses to exist.
*sigh* Unfortunately, I fear that may never happen at least in my lifetime.
On a much funnier note...
I adopted a Time Lord!

Chapter 166 ~ Here's to 5 years of putting the NUT in the NUTHOUSE!! *smirk!*
Alright, before I get to the fun stuff, right now it's 96 bloody degrees and with the heat index it feels like 101. No wonder I'm sweating as I just returned to the Underground from work. Bleah.
And now, on to a bit more sillier news! :-)
As we Underground Citizens know, today's my 5-year anniversary of being the resident goofball of my workplace. Sure the day was enough to piss me off to the maximum but then, right around lunch rush we all at the store had a surprise visitor. To which I can only say, Thank you, Sir, for making my 5 years...
Yep, that would be Ronald McDonald. He was so thrilled to meet someone on the day of her 5-year anniversary. It's all brill! ^_^
After work I treated myself to a chocolate-dipped ice-cream cone. Unfortunately, I had to flip it upside-down [the chocolate-covered ice cream] onto the cone. And of course, whenever Sunshine's got ice cream, we have a problem. Really.
So one of my coworkers [who shall remained unnamed!] caught me in this one today.
Heh... Upside-down Chocolate-dipped ice cream cone: FAIL!
So you can tell that yes, today did end on a much better note. *lol*
And FINALLY... hey Pouncer, you know anything about THIS going on in Frat Row?
